Well, here’s my take on it. This is strictly my opinion based on my _very_ limited knowledge of pheromones and their function/affect in/on our bodies. So, please, take this with a grain of salt 🙂

Pheromones affect us because of the reaction it has on the hypothalamus, which, if I remember what I learned in science class waaaayyyyy back when, is the root (processor and regulator) of our emotions, hormones, behaviors, temperature, blood pressure, metabolism, etc. Sensory inputs, whether they be from sight, hearing, taste, smell (such as pheromones), etc causes the hypothalamus to produces all kinds of horomones and to start sending messages to other parts of our brain & body systems. It “allows” us to “physically” feel what we are “emotionally” experiencing. Kind of like when your really scared (the emotional part), your body will, because of the hypothalamus, start producing adrenaline, your blood pressure rises, you start to sweat, etc. (the physical part).

I believe that pheros trigger responses in the hypothalamus, which in turn, results in physical reactions such as sexual attraction, aggression, feelings of happiness, protectiveness, etc.

So what happens if we are exposed to a certain pheromone, which creates a reaction in our bodies, which in turn, causes another bodily response, which causes another, and so on?

Strictly for illustrative purposes, let’s say that [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) triggers a response in the hypothalamus which results in a physical reaction such as a happy emotional state of being. Maybe, because of this new physical/emotional state, you’re feeling energized and happy and you decide that’s it’s a great day for a walk, so you take a walk and now your body, in response to this new sensory input, starts producing endorphins, which in turn, curbs your appetite for carbs, and so on. So, yes, I believe that pheros (via a direct or circuituous route) can help set the metabolism. Keep in mind that I have absolutely no scientific evidence to back this example and theory up, so if any of you forum users can set me straight on this, by all means, please do so. I’m no scientist!

This is, however, the reason why I truly believe that pheros work…because I’ve had physical reactions to them. And hey, why can’t one of those physical reactions be weight loss, caused either directly or indirectly?
