PQQ is interesting, skinwise, because it is active in the metabolism of lysine, an amino acid that is part of collagen, the skin structure protein.

I have frequently noticed, when travelling in asia, that many traditional diet asiatic people had exceptionally fine, uniform, almost creamy skin texture. I wondered if this was genetic, environmental, dietary, or what ?

Recently there have been stirrings in the nutritional industry about PQQ,
**pyrroloquinoline quinone…** which is only now barely turning up in specialty supplements, around 5 mg…

Looking into this, it also happens that PQQ is concentrated in popular fermented soybean… errrr… food items called Natto, in soybean, tofu, papaya… but particulary high in the fermented soybean…

Also, PQQ seems to be generated by Bacillus Subtilis, a transient soil organism in some intestinal bacteria capsules…

Hmmmmm… I thought to meself… so PQQ is intimately related to lysine metabolism… and lysine metabolism is intimately related to “cellular aging end products”… the stuff that makes you look older and uglier than you would otherwise… which is what happens when sugar polymers (Amadori Product… or proto-cellular crap) bind to… yup… you guessed it… Lysine ! to form… well… it ain’t pretty… CMO or carboxy-methyl-lysine… what the heck is that ? You know those nasty “liver spots” that heavy drining, heavy smoking, sun toasting people get ? That’s accumulated CMO… the Ugli Molecule…

So why wasn’t I seeing much CMO accumulation in asia ? Especially in some regions of China back in the old days… even “elders” in their sixties were performing HARD manual labor, had lean musculature of a well exercised 25 year old gym rat… and in spite of great economic misery, had strikingly good skin… ?

In retrospect, I attribute this to three things… one is they consumed (at the time) vastly less refined sugar than their wealthy conterparts…

Two is they had a diet very high in bioactive fermentive things, esp. soybean… which would give them high PQQ family intake, and probably a ton of other undocumented micronutrients…

Three is they lived in… well… not exactly sanitary conditions… and I would assume this was over eons pretty close to what humans were evolved to live like, once acclimated… and they were getting constant intakes of soil bacterias too…

Possibly it was this that actually supplied them with some very hard to identify, unstable nutritions, and it is we who have some degrees of malnutrition by comparison ?

**25/04/2003 - Japanese researchers have discovered a new vitamin that has an important role in immune response and fertility in mice. The chemical, pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), may have a similar function in humans, they said.**

**The team from the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research in Tokyo report that they have found a new molecular function of PQQ, first discovered in 1979, leading them to propose its classification as a new B vitamin.**

**_Researchers fed mice a PQQ-deficient diet and found that they grew slowly, had fragile skin and a reduced immune response_, and also had problems reproducing. It is thought that because vitamins that have an important effect on mice usually act in the same way in humans, this vitamin may be vital for humans too.
Writing in this week’s issue of _Nature_, Takaoki Kasahara and Tadafumi Kato identify _PQQ’s role in degrading the amino acid lysine_ in mice. They found that PQQ generates an enzyme that is required for the reaction to occur.
They explain that PQQ is acting as a redox cofactor in this reaction, just as nicotinamides and flavins act in other enzyme-catalysed redox reactions. They are classified as vitamins because they must be supplied in the diet.
PQQ is believed to be the first new vitamin to be discovered since 1948, and will join niacin/nicotinic acid (vitamin B3) and riboflavin (vitamin B2), in the B vitamin series. There are 13 other known vitamins, organic compounds required in trace amounts for normal growth and metabolic processes.
PQQ is not normally included in multi-vitamin tablets but can be found in vegetables such as parsley, green peppers and kiwi fruit and some meat. More research is needed to explain the low fertility in mice and find out if the vitamin has a similar role in humans.**

If skin is your concern than I suggest Melanotan II for that dark tank. It also has pro-sexual effects and protects agains sun burn. It is a bit on the pricey side.
Info: [Melanotan.org : find info and forums for CUV1647, bremelanotide, and Melanotan II here.](http://melanotan.org/)

Otherwise, for something cheaper, I suggest L-Tyrosine. Very cheap in bulk powder form, and aside from increased energy and mental performance, It also for some reason also darkens and clears up your skin. Not as strong as MTII but does get it roughly a shade darker. (basically moves you up a skin type so 2 becomes 3 and so on…)
Some Info: [L-Tyrosine Profile by David Tolson](http://www.1fast400.com/?articleID=18)

As for PQQ, yeah Im looking into it as well. Seems interesting although you wont find me within 500ft of soy food… 😉

From the literature, PQQ and **copper** seem like they work together to “remodel”… technically meaning they remove damaged collagen and then the local cells react by producing fresh collagen… a lot of people look bad-skin-ish because the body doesn’t signal for collagen remodelling, and more and more broken collagen accumulates… so maybe a proper copper-zinc-molybdenum balance with a good source of PQQ lets the skin (and more critical, internal structures like capillaries, arteries, veins) do constant maintenance… I believe alcohol leads to extensive collagen and elastin damage if taken in excess… so this problem is going to be magnified for heavy drinkers…

Seems like the secret of looking and feeling great is the quality of tissue repair… athletes with exceptional tissue repair can exert themselves way beyond the repetitive limits of ordinary people, I suppose the breathtakingly beautiful person is great at fixing microscopic level damage… rumor has it that many medicines that older people routinely take, painkillers, statin based cholesterol controllers, etc, have major effects on blocking certian metabolic pathways needed for tissue regeneration, esentially inducing nutrient deficiency diseases causing muscle to waste away (statins can do this) or joints to degrade… so we have been sold a terribly false sense of security that our medicines are only fixing us, they may be fixing one end of the problem and worsening the other…🆒

chocolate also, high concentration… could explain why many have cravings for it, the want the quinones… rumors in the supplement industry are that it may appear on the shelves… touchy part is one form can be toxic elevated doses and another form isn’t…

They have discovered about 50 new vitamins in the last 10 years. They have also discovered about 20 new minerals not on the periodic table, essential bacterias for life, amino acids in space, large chains of protein integrated inside water bound with mono atomic elements, mushrooms in space that get catapulted like satellite and colonies the whole universe. Yes the first forms of life on earth were mushrooms, you will find mushrooms all over the galaxy, universe, on mars, on the moon, EVERYWHERE. As a HIGHLY informed obsessive reader of all medical, clinical, pharmaceutical, anecdotal, multinational, secret, underground, health reader, i have heard of many compounds such as this in the last years.

And, having personally cured many forms of cancer and dipped my fingers into the use of oral mono atomic elements (ormus minerals) , i know my knowledge to be true.

BTW, before all of you rush out to buy PPQ, think of this: bee pollen may have up to a million different compounds in it containing MASSIVE health benefits. You can feed generation after generation of living thing only on bee pollen and water without ever having any genetic defects. Bee pollen contains every known element and unknown, every ormus mineral, every enzyme (0ver 5000), ever essential fat, almost all protein contained in living things on earth (not the crazy fucked up proteins found in meteorites that keep falling). Anyways, why not try some bee pollen?
