You seem level headed and slightly skeptical but open minded so I think in your case very little of it would be really. After you begin to see some repeated hits and reactions you know when its a real reaction or just something your causing by your own actions. Both of them have always reacted very well to pheromones. As far as it helping with a difficult child it depends on why he/she is difficult. It wont change them but it can effect there moods. Make them calmer, less cranky, More social. Some can make them clingy. The alpha ones can convey you mean business when you say something. The only ones I would really be careful using around them are the strong sexual male pheromones like TUTH or Raw Power. Those can make them go either way. Some kids fall in love and some get nervous and aggitated by a strong alpha presence. I suggest starting out with the basics.
