Democrats have not stopped the war, like the people told them to, either. Both “major” parties (in the USA) are utterly beholden to interests other than the people of the USA. ---

True, but the Dems can’t actually stop the war, only cut or eliminate funding, which of course would effectively end the war, but how many more Americans would die if we just cut funding. You are right in that both parties have interests other than the will of the american people, and for that I believe that any politician that doesn’t support ending the war immediately should be thrown out of office and tried as a traitor and murderer. How many of our politicians believe in the Iraqi effort enough that they would have volunteered themselves or their children to go fight this war? How in the hell did we get to a point where the President of the U.S. can say he doesn’t care what Congress wants or thinks, and ignore the will of the american people, and our senators and representatives can do whatever they want? And how did we get to a point where we let the Supreme Court and Geoge Bush SR. decide the outcome of a presidential election?
