> NEW YORK – The president of the leading Southern Baptist seminary has incurred sharp attacks from the left and right by suggesting that a biological basis for homosexuality may be proved, and that prenatal treatment to reverse gay orientation would be biblically justified.
>
> The Rev. R. Albert Mohler Jr., one of the country’s pre-eminent evangelical leaders, acknowledged that he irked many fellow conservatives with an article this month saying scientific research “points to some level of biological causation” for homosexuality.

> Proof of a biological basis would challenge the belief of many conservative Christians that homosexuality – which they view as sinful – is a matter of choice that can be overcome through prayer and counseling.

No, but your post in general was aimed at me, and I still think that political slant was a stereotypical implication of all Christians in general.

**“I’m starting to understand how George W. Bush got re-elected (and elected for that matter).”** This is the typical conservative right-wing bashing that links religion with politics.

I’ll go ahead and accept that as a satirical comment, though. I’ll agree that there are a lot of gullible Christians, though. If you want to argue that I’m close-minded, because I don’t believe everything science throws out at me, then go ahead. Sorry for thinking independently from popular opinion.

Thanks for the article. As I already mentioned, there are Christians within the church that accept homosexuality on a biological level. I don’t go with the sway of the flow, though. I’m going to read those articles you posted, and draw my own conclusion.

So far I can’t see any changes in any of the [pheromone products](https://a314.com/shop/) I’ve bought, and some are over a year old. I notice the “Love Potions” (via Ail) site claims their stuff is good for up to 6 years, but of course there aren any synthetic pheros in them…

Has anyone notice any semi-obvious changes in “potency” or reactions you get? I’ve read here that EOW “mellows out” over time, but not sure if there is any change in effectivness.

I had a scented product with a good “Winter” scent (Edge Essentials) that I didn’t use over the summer. When I next used it the following fall, the scent had changed, the product absolutely reeked, I had to throw it away. I’m sure the potency was still there, I’ve had no problem with the un-scented version, but…

That may be the only issue with shelf life, scent change.

I recall reading that either here or on that other forum as well. Sometimes the “scent package” can shift, and not always for the better. May be a good argument for getting unscented products. I decided to go with mostly unscented on my recent Androtics order figuring most will be used in combo with already scented products like Ammo, or the goodies from Love Potion (and those are pretty powerful).

I’ve always been concerned about clashing “scent packages,” fragrances, and/or colognes. Granted something good may come out of the combo, but maybe not. I’d rather find a pheromone combo I like THEN add a cover scent that combines well (if necessary). I’d hate to find a wonderful pheromone combo only to have it reek due to a conflicting cacophony of scents.

😮

I’m libertarian on most of the issues, but I’ve come to realize that our voters system is tampered with anyways. I could go on about my opinion on 9/11, but I’ll save that for another time.

If I were going to target groups to exercise demagoguery on, the feverishly religious would be at the top of my list, along with other groups that are largely sheep wanting strong authoritarian leadership. Kudos to you for being religious but also an independent thinker.

> [@mindset](#):

> Another thing, “dont knock it until you’ve tried it” implies that the attraction is acquired, which is the whole point of this subject matter on my end.

No, it doesn’t imply that at all. It implies that there are some things for which experience gives unique qualifications and grants the participant a competence that observation and logic alone do not. It seems clear you haven’t entered into the life of a gay in a meaningful way, that you don’t have intimate knowledge (not suggesting that you must have homosexual sex to to gain such knowledge).

> [@mindset](#):
>
> How is it that somebody can be married for 20 years, and then decide that they’re gay? That in itself conflicts with the whole born-gay theory, unless you’re saying their true feelings were ‘repressed’. How is that so when sexual attraction is solely biological? Are you saying that gay men/women DO have sexual attraction to women?

I would say that such a person was bisexual, though predominantly homosexual – who was highly motivated to repress his homosexuality for a long time, getting married, having children, etc. – but then had reasons to stop repressing. Perhaps 15% of the “gay” men I’ve met worked hard at being “straight” for years or decades before accepting they are predominantly homosexual.

> [@mindset](#):
>
> If not, how exactly did they manage to have children? 😕

^^ Bisexuals are an incovenient fact for anyone who prefers all-or-nothing distinctions. I suspect there are many kinds of heterosexualities, homosexualities, and bisexualities.

> [@mindset](#):
>
> Last but not least, I don’t care what anybody thinks about me, so I don’t expect anybody to care what I think about them, either.
>
> Snide comment? I was pointing out the fact that homosexuality is (usually) between two consenting adults. I think it’s a given that this same aspect can be applied to heterosexuality. When I say ‘usually’ I meant that rape occurs regardless of orientation. Anything else you want to twist out of context?

There are some groups of people, for better or for worse, who have learned (or been forced to learn) socially to care deeply about prevailing attitudes (and vocal minorities as well) as it regards them. You might call it paranoia, but others might call it pragmatic.

Jews who are sensitive to anti-semitic sentiment seem amply justified to me, for example.

So I deprecate and discount what you say you think and believe. In general, I’m a firm believer that stupidity is punished in a natural way: those who disregard reality by substituting superstition and dogma (religious or otherwise) for science and individual insight are at a strategic disadvantage. But I still recognize that stupid people in large numbers can be dangerous.

BTW, in most places in the USA, **rape** is only performed by a male upon a female. Any other sexual assault by females, or by a male upon another male is just sexual assault.

One of the keys to prolonging the shelf life of perfumes, and I suspect pheromones as well, is to keep them away from light and heat. For instance, in a cool, dark cabinet. That your product changed it’s smell over the (presumably warm or hot) summer suggests that perhaps the temperature at which it was stored had something to do with the decomposition.

People in general are sheep. I can tell just by walking in the neighborhood mall. Society is fully loaded with stereotypes, and generalisations that it takes away from any credit that a person may bring to discussion. History itself has been revised an innumerable amount of times to where you cannot truly draw an unbiased opinion. Science itself has changed and contradicted itself on end. We only know what is presented, and half of the time that takes a leap of faith considering we have to trust whoever is heading these studies. Thanks for atleast acknowledging me as an independent thinker.

You’re right, I do not have much insight into the life of a homosexual, and I do not intend on journeying that path, either. I thought that it wasn’t a choice, anyways? I’ve talked to people who are openly gay, and I don’t find them to be any different than you or I. I don’t feel a need to explore my sexuality as I already am confident in what I’m attracted to. I don’t need to second guess myself.

It sounds like a color scale from white to black. I still think the mind is where all of the attraction plays out that ultimately effects your biological responses, especially with the argument that attraction (non-sexual) happens within childhood. That of which I can only describe as being environment and nuture. But, we are all entitled to what we want to believe.

I never understood anti-semitism in the church. Christianity is founded on Judeo roots. Anti-semitism was actually a movement started by Martin Luther. If it weren’t for the crucifixion, there would be no Christianity. Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Matthew, Peter, Jesus = ALL Jews. Paul was the only Jew with a dual citizenship with Rome. Anti-semitism is basically anti-christian, or anti-christ.

I’ve learned to appreciate all groups of people due to experience. I’ve experienced harsh criticisms all of my life, and I still am to this day. Part of it has to do with my religious background, but most of it is just normal day-to-day ignorance. I listen to hip-hop, most of my friends are of a different ethnicity, I battle social anxiety, and I can be classified as a “dork.” I don’t fit in anywhere, and that’s exactly where I want to be. Albeit it is a difficult path, but I’d rather struggle to be real than to hang with the flakes.

Again, look at our society, and look at who’s in the White House. I don’t think I can argue with you here. There are a lot of religious folk like Ted Haggard who talk up a storm, but once they’re behind closed doors, they’re a completely different person. I’ll admit to you that I’m less than perfect, and that what I strive for isn’t always met. I have a little bit more of a reason for my spiritual roots than what some guy said behind a pulpit.

I’m sure that’s the technical term, and I really wasn’t trying to prove anything other than explaining what I meant by “usually” in parenthesis.

The point I raised was not about your self-knowledge or exploring your sexuality; it was about having intimate knowledge of and/or empathy for someone else (who is ‘gay’.) Talking to a few people who are openly gay isn’t the same as acquiring a depth of understanding and knowledge.

A parallel: There are plenty of men who have never gained more than cursory knowledge of the experience of **women** in modern culture. They’ve met them and talked with them, but lack intimate knowledge.

You could substitute any subgroup for the group “women” in the above paragraph.

I think that what is objective is observable behavior. Kinsey found a spectrum of behaviors and frequencies of behaviors – and his scale seems to work.

“The mind” isn’t directly observable.
