I was wondering if anyone has used pheromones for therapy, say using something like [Instant Openness](https://a314.com/product/instant-openness/) for someone with Asburger’s or Autism.

I looked it up and found that they’ve been using them on animals! (Mainly apparently dogs)

[New Technology Leads to Breakthrough in Pheromone Therapy for Pet Behavior Problems - Yahoo! Finance](http://finance.yahoo.com/news/technology-leads-breakthrough-pheromone-therapy-150000091.html)

I didn’t find any human application other than “sex therapy” but I personally feel this could be a great tool for psychologists and psychiatrists. I’d love to see it used more, or at least studied in a professional, psychiatric way.

What do you think?

Its been looked at but its not very effective so far. Its like putting a band aid on a stab wound really.

The effects are just not strong enough or lasting enough to be used as a therapy in humans especially with something like autism or asperger’s. It may help with milder social disorders though. The form we use here (type of mone and delivery method) at AD is more for enhancement then for therapy.

Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying they can not work in this capacity ever just that so far it hasn’t proven to be effective. They are working on it though.

Back in 2008 through 2010 Pherin Pharmaceuticals was working on some products

Pherin Products

Haven’t heard much coming out of there since 2010 though.

Animals rely heavily on chemical communication. Its there language and while we are mammals we are evolved mammals. We speak it but not as fluently as they do.

Its just not dogs either. I have [pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/) mosquito traps in my yard and they work like a charm.

When we get those kitchen moths once in a while I have pheromone moth traps that are just totally amazing. Funny side note \>\>\> We had a few moths flying around so I ordered the traps from the lab and I opened one in the kitchen and was setting it up. I hear my husband say “Holy shit” so I look up and there are about 50 moths flying right at me LOL. They responded so quickly it was amazing.

I use liquid no which is pheromonal on places I don’t want the cats clawing or laying on.

We own a HVAC company and we even use pheromone traps near ventilation system to reduce bedbugs and dust mites which tend to love to live in dirty vents.

So far pheromone science has come a long way with animals and insects but its been slower going with humans.

Wow! The Pherin Products thing is super interesting! It’s not quite the things I was expecting to see. I mentioned Autism because it seems like people tend to use anything to help out with, no matter how small an impact. My aunt worked as a special ed teacher for years and at least in a school setting, I think it could have been a great boon for her.

Also, hospitals spend so much time researching what colors calm people best, the pay people to change toilet paper rolls that are half full and they pay kids to walk their halls just to “erase” shoe skid marks in a huge attempt to keep people as comfortable and happy as possible. I guess I’m just kind of surprized that people aren’t using them for mild calming/happy effects.

The moth thing is hillarous! Strange little creatures. I like them. 🙂

I know that ants follow phero trails! It was a really interesting documentry!

How well does the cat spray work? Sounds lworth looking into.

It’s so cool you own a company! I’ve tried a few times to get one up, but with no luck so far. Next time!

I think its because there are so many misconceptions and skepicism when it comes to [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/). People automatically assume they are for sexual purposes only. There is sort of a stigma associated with them.

Very well but you do have to reapply one a week. After a while they just avoid the area even without the spray though.

I’ve joticed the sexual stigma. It’s very confusing to me. I understand that’s most likely what people are trying to sell it on, because I’m sure that makes it sell, but it seems like that makes people think they’ll work “like the Axe comercials.” Which I think is a negitive thing. ☹ I think people sometimes buy pheramones and get dissapointes because of fantasy advratizing.

I’m sorry about the economy. It’s been hard, but it seems like we’re headed up!

As a side note, I can’t copy/paste sometimes and I can’t enable spell check. Sorry about that ☹

Once someone says: “Sex!”, it’s very difficult to steer the public conversation towards a different direction.

Why not have a look at this and post your own thread in the **Intro Forum**

You will get better help there than you will from pitching-up on random threads - And you will get the GC too. 🙂
