Hi All,

I have been trying to research a question I’ve had as to the mechanistic pathway of pharamone detection. I’ve read that most mammals use the vomeronasal duct to receive pheromonal signals, but that in humans, its underdeveloped - to a non-functioning point.

Has the exact detection mechanism been isolated in humans yet? I’ve seen suggestion that our olfactory bulb picks up the slack, but little direct evidence of such.

Thanks for your wisdom 🙂

I can’t tell you man but I would love answers from those who know.

I beleive studies have been done that shows androstenedieone can be detected subconscously and affect certain things such as mood and alertness (possibly arousal, since cortisol is increased indicating some sort of stressor). Its possible that there is some mechanism that allows [pheromones](https://a314.com/) to be detected and the brain instructed to think “attractive high-testosterone male is nearby, lets be alert!” subconscously.

The best thing about them is that they work. The how it’s done is not yet that clear I think for the time being..

Yeah, I read your very insightful article on that, Mtnjim.

However, as an update to this thread, I’ve read a few posts/scientific papers of studies where the vomeronasal organ WAS observed as functional in humans. The answer according to all the research I’ve done is that sexual (and otherwise) pheromonal signalling can be accomplished by multiple pathways, all beginning in the oral/nasal cavities (at least we know that much).

I have yet to find a study in which pheromones have been tested directly by absorption through the skin, and I believe that an appropriate experiment has yet to be conducted for humans on this issue.

That was the point of the article. I don’t know if you had a chance to read the whole article, but the point was that CN-0 and the VNO work together.

for a biochemist you should probably know that

we don’t “smell”, we have receptor areas in our nasal cavity that molecules bind to and trigger a chemical response in the brain. Usually a sensation, smell. However their is no reason this has to be so

From what I can tell, this forum is just used as a front for selling [smartmones.com](http://smartmones.com) and not a real forum

Surprised they have the balls to expect you to buy 5 pheromones.

why excactly 5 pheromones? heck if you want, you can buy 1 togo sized bottle for 10$ (some cost a bit more but circa 10$), you get a 15$ cupon, and you get 5$ for making a shopping account, so thats 10 $ for the bottle and 10$ for shipping, so in fact, your first purchase doesnt even have to cost you anything.
