Anyone know of any studies pointing out that [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) do indeed affect or modify sexual behavior in women? I got a professor in sensory/perception psychology that thinks pheromones don’t affect sexual behavior at all. He’s getting his research from Neil Carlson studies.

Very unusual. He’s headed to the opposite end of stupid.

There’s this distortion on one end, or that distortion on the other far end, and most professors are very uncomfortable with the reality that lies in between the extremes. I tell ya – professors are an extremist lot. 🙂

Academic meandering aside, _most_ studies on pheromones involve sexual behavior. In fact, few academics ever stop to consider that pheromones influence behaviors other than sexual. That’s why I said he’s headed toward the other end of stupid. (I actually think he may be pulling your leg/joking with you on this one!)

Neither view – a) that pheromones involve sexual behavior only, or b) pheromones involve any behavior _but_ the sexual – is, of course, true, as all pheromone users that live in the real world well know.

Closer to reality, would be the realization that pheromones affect a range of behavior, as broad and as wide as human expression itself.

To look up abstracts, go to:

Type in a molecule name, and off you go…

You might want to start with androstadienone. They like to study that particular molecule as if it were the only [human pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/) in existence.

What are you guys studying right now, or rather, what’s your textbook? Is it “The Physiology of Behavior” by Neil Carlson?

It’s a psych motivation class, but we haven’t covered anything remotely dealing with “motivation”. I’m pretty sure his area of expertise is sensation and perception. “Motivation: the organization of action” by Mook is our textbook. Neil Carlson is the person he’s refering to when he was talking about pheromone studies and them having no reaction when it came to affecting sexual behaviors. “Pheromones do not have any effect on sexual behavior what so ever” I believe is what he said.

Those who _can_,do. Those who _can’t_, teach.

nothing unusual there, he’s just trying to dissuade the students from encroaching on his co-ed territory.

the only reason i would say something like that is if i expected at least half a dozen co-eds to ask me what in the world is so boring about copulation.

Good “game”, Josef!

Then you can make 'em _prove_ it’s not boring.
