I think the [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) have made me depressed. I have thoughts of helplessness now and im becoming suicidal and depressed and this only happens when im wearing pheromones. Instant shine especially.

Well, lay off it for a while. Personally I’ve never experienced depression from pheromone use. However, if I’m depressed, the pheromones seem to enhance and make the depression more obvious. So I avoid all pheromones if I’m down or having a bad day. Costco and Safeway meat gives me terrible depression. I suspect some type of preservative. I’m slowly turning organic vegetarian and have since rarely been depressed.

Does [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) contain A-1? Of all the pheromones it is the only one I’ve heard multiple reports linking it to male depression. Luckily it doesn’t bother me.

Idem for me. High dose of NPA could be very unfriendly even for the wearer.

The Taa in instant shine can drive up anxiety which could exaserbate a pre existing conditon. The only phero that has been reported to cause depression in some men is Androstadienone found in [Instant Female Magic](https://a314.com/product/instant-female-magic/). Stay off the pheromones for a bit. If it doesn’t clear up, you may want to see a pshyc doctor. I did when I had issues and it helped a lot. If you need any help IM me. I know this area all to well.

I’m normally a very up person. I was wearing Chikara (from another vendor) every day I found myself depressed. When I stopped, it went away. I can wear other pheromones every day such as A314 without depression. I think each individual is different. Stop using any pheromone that makes you depressed.

It really depends on the individual. I can nearly bathe in NPA and don’t feel a thing. Others claim to transform into psycho killers immediately get in fist fights with friend and foe alike. All I can say is say outta gyms and locker rooms if androstenone bothers you! The funk in there is thicker than any bottle of NPA.

I frequently wear 5 or 6 drops of NPA with zero negative reactions other than some women being unusually sexually aggressive. I’ve worn as many as 12 drop while trying to find my OD point. Couldn’t OD. Of course as a middle aged Asian male I probably have little or no natural androstenone. I also have a mellow persona which may also account for me being able to wear high amounts of NPA.

Incidentally A-1 is rumored to be the secret [pheromone](https://a314.com/shop/) blended with Androstenone in NPA. Some males seem to be intolerant of A-1 or suffer mild depression. My fav mix for a 2nd or 3rd date is NPA, A-1 and Burberry Weekend, all premixed in an atomizer. Women pretty much grow an extra set of horns.

Do you smoke? How is your diet? Pheromones can be expensive metabolically and if you don’t have adequate intake of precursors to neurotransmitters that might be part of the problem.

24isnotM24 is 14 years old, Quirk. I know nobody that young who uses pheromones, so I can’t advise him at all, but as a doctor, I AM a wee tad concerned that some of the constituents of the products may actually be slightly detrimental for someone in what is in a MALE (not a female) still pre-puberty, but without getting too technical, I can’t really go into my thinking on this one, and as said before, I prefer as much as possible, to keep work life and chilling time (here) separate.

I know Jas did say it was fine for 24isnotM24 to use the products, but there are just a couple of his posts that have set a wee alarm bell ringing for me, and I think to be honest, that as MarkL advised Matt, he really would be better laying off anything other than [social pheromones](https://a314.com/product-category/social-pheromones/) for the time-being..

Ail 🙂

We don’t really know much about how kids respond to pheromones … Matt’s 14 and it’s possible that his response is different or stronger due to his age. Something to consider.

Or possibly it’s nothing to do with age, and some people just have atypical responses. There have been a few reports from guys who had a kind of emotional letdown or down mood or exhaustion after a few hours on Androstenol dominant products, which would make sense if some pheromones “use up” neurotransmitters, or somehow tax your adrenals.

Matt, I hope you’ll check in here soon and let us know how you’re doing.

In that case, laying off the 'none (and maybe all mones) makes sense.

Lay off the pheromones and if you think IShine is causing your depression, definitely stop using it. If you must use, follow the advice for application point so that it affects others more and has less effect on you. Back of neck, wrists, basically far from your nose. If you still have any problem lay it off completely until you are older.
Also I am curious what other products do you have?
Drink lots of fluids and get good sleep!

I agree that you should stay away from the pheromones all together. If you do not heed the advice (at 14 I was a genius and knew it all) at least use very minimal sprays and only 1 at a time, but I again urge you to stop. This is a very serious post and everyone here is worried for your well being. I have personally battled depression and I know the pain it causes. Please do not consider yourself alone, there are many people that would be willing to help, and most importantly just listen to you. It is important you find someone to share these feelings with. The key that unlocked me from years of depressive bouts that kept me lonely, sad and near suicidal was realizing I was not alone. The outpouring of love from strangers willing to do whatever it took to help me renewed my faith in life and for that I am forever grateful. If I can help you in any way please private message me and I will be willing to pass on my phone number, email, or IM if you ever want to just talk and get it off your chest. I’m sure you will find many others in this community who would be willing to do the same.

i think i figured it out. I tried instant shine today after a while and it worked like the first time i used it magneficently. Maybe its the residue from previous pheromones sprays that are giving the depression effect? How do you properly clean pheromones off?

Well 24isnotM24, that is a tricky thing. It is a good chance you had build up.

When you bath you should scrub the aplication points with a relitively strong soap and one of those shower poof things. I would avoid spraying pheromones into your hair as they stick much longer. For cleaning your hair, you should use a nioxin type shampoo (hair loss shampoo), but I don’t think that would be a good idea for you at your age. Sucks being young, but enjoy it while you can eh? 😃

Perhaps you should reserve pheromones for special occasions. When you need to make a good impression on a hottie for example.

You definatley need to take breaks from regular use. I’m assuming you didn’t do this, or not enough. normaly a 2-3 day break per weak is advised. It might be a good idea for you to only wear pheromones every 2nd or third day, so you have a clean pallet before you put on any pheromones again. I’ve noticed that If I don’t shower, I can smell the pheromones scent on aplication points at the 24 hr mark.

Just take care of yourself, you are pioneering the youth application. Always remeber that your body chemistry is still progressing, where all the other users here have alread reached the stopping point for growth and development.

Keep up the good work, and great posts.

Are you friggin kidding? When and where were you using it, and how many trials did you have?

This just totally doesn’t make sense to me, since I use that molecule way too much, on both sexes and it seems to work out just fine. I’m interested to know your testing data on it… situations, grounds, your mood to start out with?
