So I’m curious if anyone has done or read any research on the transfer of [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/) by touch. We talk a lot on this board about diffusion of pheromones into the air, but I haven’t heard much about touch. I’m curious because the skin is a huge receptor for detecting, touch, pressure, pain, etc. I also think about the fact that with some pheromones the opposite gender tends to be more touchy. Are they trying to pass a hormone signal?

Thoughts?

Very interesting. I imagine if there were decent body heat I don’t see why not. Sometimes when I spray them on my chest and put a T shirt on they do transfer to that shirt. I can even smell it sometimes especially with [Ammo](https://a314.com/product/ammo/) in the dirty laundry even a few days later.

Those are sticky molecules of the fragrance, not the pheros.
There are “scent”-receptors in deeper layers of the skin. That has been established rather eecently … a woujd heals faster and better in terms of skin qaulity when exposed to sandalwood - what constituents of andalwood has not benn publsihed yet but likely some sesquiterpenols … those are prominent in most EOs that are known to be beneficial to the skin.
So for pheromnes to act on those scent-receptors in deeper skin layers, they would have to difuse through the epidermis in sufficient quantity … unlikely, but possible.

How deep are those receptors GorchFock? I wonder if they are at the same depth all over the skin. I wonder about the desire for women to respond to men they like by touching the wrist or back of the shoulder. Potentially this is because of position but I am reminded that during attraction phase of an initial meeting if a woman is attracted and you touch her she has to return the touch. I wonder if that is just behavioral or if it’s also biological. Is there another message being passed via pheromones on the skin during this touch.

Look up the publication. Those are scent-receptors mind you, if real pheromones are active there I can’t tell, I’d guess not when most of them are inactive and only 5 have been found in the mucous membrane
