> And it helps greatly to have a culture (which implies shared intention, desire, goal directions) of growth or transformation or healing… either that or some intense personal experiences that are teachable… if the social goal is getting shitfaced and hopefully laid you might not tap into the same energy planes as you would in the presence of a lineal master of an ancient tradition…

It’s true of psychoactive drugs, and quite probably in this context as well.

> It’s not unusual for a person who drops a red hot soldering iron to try to catch it before it hits the floor – either to protect the floor, or the soldering iron. But – sooner or later (sooner, we hope) – your CON steps in and VETOES the catch. (Most of the time, it’s too late, and the individual gets a serious burn, but was consciously realizing why NOT to catch the iron even as they wrapped their hand around it.)…

I think the UNC-CON distinction, although valuable for conversation, is somewhat deceptive. The things that have been hidden from me were in plain sight, and the deepest levels were right on the top.

I have played with objects that can hurt if they contact, like the soldering iron. I took some time to think about what happened if they left my control. Now when I drop one, my instinctive reaction is to jump away, clearing my appendages as much as possible from the line of fall. Then the rational processes kick in, and say something like, “you didn’t have to jump that far” or “you sure looked silly!”
