Can someone please give me a hand understanding what the putative series of [pheromones](https://a314.com/) is all about ?

Using the common definition of putative … what are these _‘mixes ?’_ believed to be in terms of effect.

We don’t know what they’ll do. That’s what the testing is all about. To see if they do anything at all. That’s why they are called putative.

In the context of this forum, “Putative” and “pute” are shorthand for “[putative pheromone](https://pheromonelabs.com/product-category/advanced-pheromones/putative-pheromones/)”.

These are molecules that are speculated to be pheromones due to a number of evidence factors, but are not yet confirmed in the real world. A number of the initial factors are very technical, such as molecule structure.

We release them to the forum to help provide more evidence that they could be pheromones. It’s kind of like bringing the ideas of beta testing software, or open source software, to the advancement of science.

It’s what we “Guerilla science”, and it’s that’s faster and more exciting than what what universities typically do, although less accurate. What we can generate on the forum faster than any universities can is ideas and leads, since we’re all sort of like “pheromone detectives”. It’s still best to confirm any specific findings we generate here with typical academic studies. That way we get the best of both worlds.

Other chemical industries have putative vitamins or putative drugs. Every chemical was once putative, such as Vitamin K.

Got it … thank you.
