# Putatives: can somebody break down what they do? The smartmones site doesn't say

I have been reading quite a few threads involving putatives [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/shop/). i have looked them up on the smartmones site with hope of ordering some, but it doesn’t specify whats in them nor what their main reactions are. Could somebody help break it down for me what they do??

Being so new to pheromones I might stay away from Putatives. They are more geared for experienced researchers.

From what I understand they are a break down of individual and grouped molecules that may or may not create a reaction. Researchers therefor use them by themselves or with other molecules to test what exactly they do.

Personally, if I was you I’d stick to the instant line until I got a basis of understanding what pheromone signatures do what, how and why.

The store doesn’t tell you what molecule they are or what others say they do because Androtics wants your unbiased feedback. It’s not entirely known what they do or even _if_ they have a pheromonal effect; that’s why they’re referred to as putative.

If you want to know what other testers have said about them, the information is here on the forum; you just have to use the search function at the top of the page.

It makes sense to get some experience with identified pheromones under your belt before you try to test and give feedback on the unknowns.

So basicallly its a matter of finding it out yourself, risking the [pheromone](https://a314.com/) mix etc… Well atleast i understand about them now… thanks guys!🙂
