# Question about streaming audio/video

Every time you play a streaming song or video that opens in your media player, it is stored somewhere on your hard drive (temporarily). It was easy to find back in windows XP, it was a folder I think was named “cache” within the internet explorer folder. I can’t seem to find such a thing in windows 7. Anyone know where these streamed files are stored? I got a kickass song played in WMP and I’d like to save it.

Youtube and such stuff are streamed in such a way that they don’t end up on your drive but files that open in the media player do.

Do you have the link to open the video? If you do try playing it again and then looking at the file properties. It might have the file location there.

I found the link again and thanks for the advice but I can’t get any file properties from the media player.

The song should be cached somewhere in either the documents or internet explorer folder. Damn how much easier these things were back in XP…

open the file and save as? there are also sites that lets u dl videos and even browser add ons

Oh man, how stupid am I? :o  
Of course, I just right clicked the link and chose “Save target as” and that was that.

Maybe I should drink less…😃
