Okay…so I’ve mostly been experimenting with the more sexual/attraction sides of pheromones to help enhance my life in those areas…

But I have really bad depression (Bipolar disorder). And I’ve had a really hard time getting out of all the increasing lows I’ve been having. I’m on medication and in therapy and all. But is there any research/has anyone had any experience with some of the mood enhancing pheromones relieving depression deeper than just the average bad mood? I have [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) and while I do feel like that brightens me up some, I think it really only does much when I’m ALREADY in a decent mood.

I already know that the pheromones with other people as targets only really work if you’re in the right mood/mind set. But what about self effects? Are there any products that anyone has found to be really useful in helping take care of depression?

Sorry to jump into the women’s forum but…

I have a few relatives who suffer from depression and 4x [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) works with them but I’ve found that heavy alpha-androstenol seems to work better and for longer. I have a bottle of 50mcg alpha-androstenol that I’d planned on using for mixing but I have found works very well around these people. It seems to make them feel better and last longer than the Instant Shine does. Meo-Est also seems to work on them in congunction with the alpha-androstenol.

BD is a very hard thing. Pheros i think could react very different to you than to other people.

Apart from [pheromones](https://a314.com/), did you ever try 5-HTP?
If you want wo try it, plz ask your doctor before, cause it could not fit with your current medication.

I have had clinical depression and found that [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) worked, but that’s not as severe as bipolar disorder. Nitehawk may be on the right track, nutrition may be helpful. In particular, getting enough of the proteins and other nutrients required for production of neurotransmitters, like 5-HTP, tryptophan, and glutamine. But check with your doctor first, as supplementing with some of these can interact with your meds.

I hope you have success in dealing with this.

Actually if you have clinical depression or your bipolar MHarris has always said you should not be using pheromones. They could be more adverse to the condition then good because of they engage the neurotransmitters. You need to be more careful then the average user.

TAA can help mood but it can not overcome the chemical reaction that is going on in your body. Remember mones enhance what is already there and if your depressed you cant enhance what is not there and are more likely to enhance feelings you do not want to.

I’m inclined to agree with Tisha on this one.
I’m not so concerned with clinical depressionin terms of the possibility of phero’s having a negative effect. I would think it’s instead likely that it would be difficult to get any effect from the phero’s.

BD is different though as you alternate between 2 different types of neurotransmitter imbalance with it. I would be wary of using phero’s such as TAA or IS, and definitively stay away from the stimulating ones such as TAF, in particular if you are having difficulties stabalizing your swings or if you have rapid cycling BD. If you add stimulating phero’s you might well trigger swings as those phero’s in particular are very good at buring off your neurotransmitters.

Normally I’m all for trying natural supplements but I don’t think you should try self medicating with phero’s or supplements if you are struggling with you BD. I would speak to your specialist about your concerns and possibly review the current medications you are on with him/her. If you DO keep using phero’s (in particular the stimulating ones) I would also mention this to your specialist as it does affect the rate that your neurotransmitters are used. For a “normal” brain this isn’t a problem, but for someone with BD this may well affect the efficacy of the medications & make the BD swings (both in terms of frequency & severity) more difficult to control.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression in my twenties and given anti depressants, problem was i really had lower end of BD and these sent me off on manic episodes.

What really helped me in the end was talking therapy, took a lot of years and had to work hard and dig deep to face my demons but really helped.

As to phero use, i would go with the advice of not using them if you are at the point where you are still taking medication and you still affected greatly by BD. I know [P83](https://a314.com/product/p83/) can make my social anxiety worse if am not careful.

My advice would be to would be to leave phero for the moment and try some therapy, and if, when you can get to the point where you no longer need medication then possible think about there use.

I am now aware of my moods and triggers so can manage things ok, this is important in being able to move forward.

Good luck and best wishes on your journey, it can be hard but it can also get better.
