I have a question / comment about the rep system. I think we should make it non anonymous. I feel that if a person give you reps you should be able to thank them, and if the neg rep you one could find out why. I bring this up because it seems some people have the same problem from the same user, when it comes to neg repping. I have found out if this user disagrees with you findings or what you testing he or she will take away the rep you have rightfully earned. The fact that they don’t post what they actually think and hide behind the anonymity of a rep system is childish at best. I feel that the whole idea behind this forum is to expressed ideas and experiment on new mixes to share that knowledge with the general populist. How can someone try to experiment on new mixes, or express an opinion that is unpopular when every time they do they get neg repped for it? I think this is a way that we could allow the information of this forum and the experimentation of its products to be more freely expressed. ---

Very curious about this issue and hate to see the rep system being abused. This community/playground is about the spirit of research and (not to sound corny) also mutual respect. I want every person here to feel they can express themselves without fear or hesitation. Personally I don’t mind it all that much. Sure this person neg reps me and throws some hostile sounding comments my way anonymously. But in less than a year I have over a thousand posts, and almost a thousand rep points. That’s hugely flattering! A lot from female posters who seem to have no problem with what I say. I mean rep points aren’t like referral points so it’s not like she’s cheating me out of discounts or free product. I DO disagree with the comments being thrown both privately and anonymously, however I’d much rather the person who does this show she (she’s all but identified herself as female) has the courage of her convictions and express her opinions either publicly or at least via PM that I might make a rebuttal. But I want it to come from her own balls…er I mean backbone, and not because complaints resulted in the forum policy changing so that she can’t do it secretly. It’d impress me more if her own character made her choose not to do it secretly. Besides, any time she flames me in private and anonymously, I just out her…repost her comments in a new topic and post my rebuttal in full public where she can either step forward and own her words or sulk in the shadows. Her continued sulking only strengthens my position. I’ll stand behind whatever AD/Pherotalk decides to do, but if her mask and shield are taken from her I don’t want to be considered one of the factors. Although it seems there’s more than a few others she’s had similar issue with. ---

While waiting on your email I poked around the system and found some abuse by a user. That user has been permanently banned. I hope I don’t find any further abuse because so far everybody here seems really cool, more so than any forum I’ve been to. Still please feel free to email me directly with info regarding your specific situation. [jslavalle@androtics.com](mailto:jslavalle@androtics.com) Edit: by abuse, I mean the user only gave neg rep and it was the only activity on the entire account except for three random posts (that were not in good spirit). ---

While it may seem a bit silly for people to be concerned about rep on a forum message board, the real issue for me was like Radman stated, that the person doing so was doing so anonymously and for reasons that made no sense. Like pointing out a correction in a statement of mine in a post via a neg rep, and not responding on the post so others could see the correction that needed to be made. Even tho’ what I stated wasn’t entirely wrong, they just read into it differently. I think neg reps should be awarded when someone is behaving poorly, but if you just disagree with a statement they make, just don’t thank or rep them. Those who continue to provide valuable info to this forum will of course grow in rep. ---

I have wondered about this. This forum has a very good community but is not very big by forums standards and it is the only forum I know of that uses an anonymous rep feature. All others allow you to see not only the message left by a positive or negative rep but also who left it and they don’t have this same problem. People like thegentleman (who I feel contributes a lot of good info) and I have only been members for a couple months and have already received one or more negative reps. I just don’t really see the advantages of making it anonymous but we’ve all witnessed the disadvantages…maybe it has to do with the engine PheroTalk uses for the forum? Thanks to John Sebastian though for taking care of that particular person who was abusing the system. I know the folks at AD already have plenty to worry about. ---
