Okay let me first start off by saying I apologize for being a little biased earlier. It has been a few years since I’ve read up on HGH supplementation and after 3 hours of reading numerous studies today I have realized that everything I read at that time was referring to a young & healthy adult. It appears that Roy is passing good advice about GH (I apologize for doubting you Roy, it’s just that I deal with misconceptions about supplements on a daily basis at work, turns out today it was me that had the misconception!!)
GH can benefit an individual with a Growth Hormone Deficiency. Which can be anyone 40+.
In patients with a deficiency, GH replacement therapy has been shown to :
-
Increase bone mineral content/density
-
Normalize diastolic blood pressure
-
Normalize lipid profiles
-
Improve cardiac performance
-
Improve cardiovascular function
-
Enhance exercise capacity
-
Increase lipolysis
-
Normalize body composition
-
Increase muscle strength
-
Improve well-being/quality of life
IMHO I believe that good 'ol exercise, healthy eating, and wellness can cure most peoples problems.
So…
Definition of supplement: Something that completes or enhances something else when added to it.
By this definition I assume that you have a plan in mind before buying any product. I would hope that one would not buy Thermogenic fat loss pills and expect to lose 15 lbs in a month without exercising. It doesn’t work this way. It’s the same with HGH supplementation. You can’t purchase this kind of supplement and expect great and amazing things to happen over night without having a proper exercise program & a proper diet in place as a foundation to your health.
This… This my friends is the #1 reason I disagree with most supplementation. There is ALWAYS room to improve in either your training or your diet FIRST. What is better for your body? Taco bell beef or choice top sirloin? Cereal or eggs? Trans fat or saturated fat? Synthetically engineered vitamins that you purchase at a store or vitamins that you are consuming through a well balanced diet? When it comes to man made vs nature, nature wins every time. Focus on eating correctly, focus on progressive training, and you will lose those 15, 40, 100lbs the healthy & permanent way. Focus on wellness, and you can improve every aspect of your life!

My #2 reason for not believing in supplementation: No supplements are regulated. What does this mean? This means that the FDA does not even glance at the supplement industry. This means a supplement company can host a website claiming they have a pill that contains 500mg of calcium but it actually only contains 5mg of calcium and 495mg of filler. That same calcium supplement can boast claims of curing cancer etc. and nothing can prove them wrong until a real expensive study is conducted to prove them wrong and put them out of business. Well guess what? There are too many supplement company’s out there making fraudulent claims to keep up with.
There are a few companies out there that conduct the validity of supplement contents like consumerlab.com but they don’t do anything about the claims being made.
Another great example is protein. There are a thousand protein companies out there all boasting 20-50G of protein per serving. What they don’t mention, is Biological Value. Protein with a high BV contains sufficient amounts of each of the essential amino acids so that your body can actually utilize all of the protein to it’s fullest potential. Cheaper protein products do not contain enough essential amino acids, but can still boast 20-50G of protein per serving. When taking these products your body may only be able to actually use 50% of said protein. Yet once again this goes unregulated.
If you would like to read actual studies on HGH supplementation you can go here:

^^^ There is an incredible amount of information about HGH supp. on that thread. Took me a while to look it up a few days ago but that’s where I pulled the first study I posted from.
OH AND BY THE WAY… dont get me wrong I use a select few supplements as well, I am just very selective on what I buy and make sure I am getting my moneys worth. There was a time in my life i was spending 300$$/mo on supplements. Around that same time is when I started researching supplements.
If you are going to do GH therapy you might be interested in combining it with a all natural testosterone booster. It will improve your libido along with many other added benefits in gym. My personal recommendation is P6 by Cellucor but that’s because it’s the only all natural test booster I know that’s worth spending money on currently.
