> I read that alcohol destroys pheromones. Is that true? No, there is no evidence that alcohol destroys pheromones. In fact, alcohol may destroy bacteria that can break pheromones down slowly over time. Pure oil-base pheromone samples and products like Primal Instinct do seem to lose some potency with age, but it is a slow process that takes years and can be avoided to some extent by storing such products away from sunlight and heat, and keeping the cap on tightly. Bottom line is… there are prod…

Androtics uses SD38 and or SD39 (just a better quality grade of perfumers alcohol) in our products. It absolutely enhances the pheromones! Where did you read such rubbish? Please cite the source so we can quickly dispel it as false.🙂

I am thinking there must be some marketer out there with a oil product spreading this bullshit because its been asked a lot lately. LOL Not your fault there is a lot of conflicting misinformation out there and its hard to know what to believe.

In chemistry Alcohol is used to stabilize molecules including pheromones, Hormones and Steroids. This you can see in many University abstracts that test pheromones and have nothing to do with the marketing of pheromones. If alcohol was a problem they would not use it in there experiments.

Bacteria is what breaks down hormones.

Alcohol breaks down enzymes. (like bacteria) but hormones are not enzymes they are …

> [@](#):
>
> There are four types of hormones in most animals. They are grouped by the chemicals from which they are made. When scientists say hormones are _derived from_ it means they are _made from_ something by changing it. These changes are chemical changes.
>
> - Steroid hormones – these are _derived from_ [cholesterl](http://www.pheromonetalk.com/wiki/Cholesterol). The three big groups of steroid hormones are: sex hormones, glucocorticoids, and mineralocorticoids.
>
> - Lipid hormones – these are hormones derived from lipids, which are kinds of [fats](http://www.pheromonetalk.com/wiki/Fat). These are mostly hormones that send messages _nearby_ the cell that makes the hormones.
>
> - Amino acid – these are derived from amino acids which are the molecules from which proteins are made. These are important in the brain. Many of these hormones are neurotransmitters. These are the hormones that one [nerve](http://www.pheromonetalk.com/wiki/Nerve) cell sends to another nerve cell.
>
> - Protein – these are hormones that are proteins which are made from amino acids that are connected together. Many of these hormones tell _other_ glands to make other hormones. These are also important hormones that regulate metabolism.

Pheromones are derived from hormones.

Now oil based [pheromones products](https://a314.com/shop/) have a short “lifespan” compared to alcohol based products unless a antibacterial EO is used in the mix. Pheromones can be quickly converted or turn rancid in a oil base if not handled and stored properly.

Now this part gets a little tricky, confusing and some of us have a difference of opinion when it comes to mixing.

Some people say you should not mix with a EO that has anti bacterial properties. I dont agree. As I mentioned bacteria breaks down pheromones. You want to prevent this from happening to a certain extent because **anol is anol until it breaks down usually into anone but then the anone starts to break down into something else which then becomes non-pheromonal in nature…**

Bold part edited for correction (Thanks guys)

…You dont want break down you want diffusion. Heat causes diffusion not bacterial conversion.

Anywho… that subject aside. You dont need to worry with Androtics products because the alcohol actually stabilizes the molecules.

Great Info Tisha!!

🙄🙄

So if alcohol stabilizes the sprays?? What stabilizes the oils? 😕

Whooops LOL Thank you very much for pointing that out, even though I know this well I did get it backwards . That’s what I get for typing to fast that early in the morning. Sometimes my hands move faster then my brain … Hey never claimed to be perfect…Yes Tisha has brain farts to LOL 😃

Here is the correct conversion

**(Androstadienone \> Androstenol \> androstenone).**

I will edit as to not confuse the newbies.

Now because androtics uses alcohol and very high quality pheromones conversion rarely occurs unless you spray to places high in the coryneform bacteria like your pits and groin so you really dont have to worry about major conversion.

I dont know what Androtics uses in oils but I would say Dipropylene glycol. I have used jojoba oil and I know this is what Drsmellthis uses are well from his postings on it.

This post may help you with that more …

It can be possible at increase a temperature or by means of intermediate solvent which then can be dissolved in oil. But how to dissolve it in oil I information could not find frowning Though production on the basis of oils has enough. What oil is used for it and which a technolog…

Actually, Tisha, it is a “marketer”. I saw them on eBay… don’t know if they’re still selling there, but they make a big deal out of how alcohol destroys pheros and anything with alcohol in it is a scam. Which is pretty stupid, considering how fast it backfires when people realize they’re full of sh\*t.

Just in case you did not know alcohol kills bacteria; some EO’s kill bacteria and that should clear up NOT using those EO’s that kill or inhibit bacteria. Both can be bacterialcidal.

I believe MHarris before anyone else and if Harris says some EO’s will kill the bacteria the mones need, well I believe him.
