While I applaud those women who can get their bodies back after child birth and don’t think it shows they were ashamed of their experience.

I feel that it’s great when we women feel proud of our bodies after child birth even if it doesn’t return to so called perfect image again.

I think its great when women feel proud of there bodies in all stages of life even the elder years.

But I gotta say wow some of those pictures are dramatic. I thank the goddess for maman, coco butter and the brush technique everyday. That doesn’t have to happen. My grandmother kept after me and my cousins when we were pregnant about taking care of our skin to help avoid some of that. It was annoying at the time because its the last thing on your mind but we all send a prayer of thanks to her now for it.

I will say…The whole subject of whats normal irks me because of past experiences though.

I do think that site (Shape of a mother) acts like its a badge of honor and if your one of those who took measures to prevent it your somehow a bad mother and should be ashamed though. Your just not normal. I think all people whether they get the sag or not are normal and beautiful. Actresses sacrifice a lot to look the way they do and while air brushing is used its not all air brushing, its hard fricking work.

It took some time to snap back from pregnancy but I took the time and made the effort because my well being is in direct connection to my kids well being. I have had people assume I am selfish or I am a bad mother when they see me and find out I have two kids. I even had one lady at the beach assume I adopted my kids because I didnt have a “normal moms” body. I told her I am normal… I worked out hard and took care of my skin while I was pregnant. She then gives me this condescending look and says … “oh I would rather spend the time with my kids then on selfish endeavors” as if I didnt spend any time with my kids. I am a awesome mother.

I dont think women should feel shame either way. Shame is not productive. Neither is acceptance.

I think it is how you see yourself and what you want out of life. There are people satisfied with the lot they are given and there are people that strive for better things. People on this forum are clearly the 2nd type otherwise they won’t even be here.

I feel that either way persons should not judge or look down on the other for either scenario.

You know your situation and what works best for you and although you should not be complacent what women go through is a beautiful thing and should not be made to feel bad after about their bodies.

This reminds me of a big issue we had in my church where mothers who did not work looked badly upon those who did work.

It’s all about understanding the situation and a person’s choice. Of course, if you have opinions you feel you need to give because you care and you want that person to strive for better do it with love it will always be well received. 🙂

I feel that sometimes accepting your lot in life is striving for better. Let me explain what I mean.

Because of this forum there are certain things about myself I changed and are changing for the better and other things I accept and love myself for and because of that acceptance am more at peace and more confident.
