This will be a thread/journal where I will review some supplements that I have tried. All thanks to a cool online site which has pretty good service and offers fast shipping to Australia!🙂

D-Chiro-Inositol (DCI)

DCI as a supplement is primarily known for its positive effects on the symptoms of Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). I am a male and do not have this issue.

Just a bit of background here…
When I started regularly using multi-vitamin supplements (way back in 2002-2004) I noticed that I would get very tired after meals that had substantial amounts of Complex Carbohydrates; even meals without complex carbs but with plenty of Protein (like Canned Sardines on their own) led to the same problem.

I tried experimenting to remedy the problem as I wanted to continue taking multi-vitamins in the long term. I tried supplementing with forms of Chromium like Chromium Polynicotinate and Glucose Tolerance Factor (from Yeast). But Chromium did not seem to do anything for the problem.

Another experiment was simply eating fruits for lunch. I settled on regularly eating only a large number of fresh Strawberries for lunch. This did remedy the sleepiness problem during a regular day but I, understandably, felt a little hungry in the afternoon.

Finally I tried taking Cinnamon around meal times; this seemed to remedy the problem completely and I have used it ever since. By the way, I believe Ceylon Cinnamon is a better option than Cassia Cinnamon as it has far lower levels of the toxin, Coumarin. Water-soluble cinnamon extracts would be the best option–they have been used in several trials and are effective at lowering blood glucose levels.

Well D-Chiro-Inositol not only has a pleasant sweet taste (quiet unusual for an unflavoured supplement to actually taste good!) but it seems to do what Cinnamon is able to do. It, like Cinnamon, is an insulin mimetic. ‘More efficient use of glucose by the brain after meal times’ is what seems to happen. DCI does not seem to affect my neurotransmitters or make any kind of changes to personality. Just a fully awake feeling and completely intact energy levels after taking 600 mg of DCI around meal times.

I take cinnamon after a high sugar/starch meal, and indeed it does make a difference!

I’ll look more into DCI. Thanks Visionary!

L-citruline-vasodilator
L-arginine-vasodilator among other things

Nattokinase - improve blood circulation

Pycnogenol - rejuvenates skin elasticity and reduces collagen degradation, but works internally to lower blood glucose levels, increase nitric oxide to dilate blood vessels, restore capillary health, and normalize blood pressure

I also paint 4-6 drops of 7% of Lugol’s Iodine every other day. Alternating Arms

I was taking Centrophenoxine daily. Definitely helps with brain function and the removal of lipofuscin. Helps to slow the process of aging.

It speeds up the communication between your neuro transmitters.
The only downside is once you stop taking it. Your brain goes into withdrawal. Its like your brain is so used to the speedy communication and now that’s nothing to supplement it. It can’t keep up and It gave me headaches, almost like migraines.

Was using Huperzine-A to ensure there was no breakdown of acetylcholine. good for memory and motor functions. Could help with Alzheimers Disease

Thanks for the responses Brian and xSkInNeRx.

Another supplement that I have tried in the last year or so was Injuv—a low-molecular weight hyaluronic acid derived from rooster combs. I, being in my mid 30s, decided to try this supplement touted for its ‘anti-ageing’ effects on the skin.

The product did seem to noticeably increase skin elasticity in the under eye area for me. However there was no real obvious effect on appearance, skin just felt more ‘elastic’ to the touch. Perhaps one needs to see a close-up to notice effects on appearance.

One plus seemed to be that each dose lasted for a solid 10-12 hours so there is no need to constantly redose to maintain effect—which I think is a problem that exists with many supplements.🙂

Curcumin, an extract of the spice turmeric, improves insulin resistance and lowers elevated blood sugar… Curcumin does so much more than manage blood sugar, though…
[Curcumin: The All-In-One Solution : Curcumin For Health](http://www.curcuminforhealth.com/all-in-one-solution/)

As far as anti-aging/removing wrinkles/far better appearance of skin/younger, this is what I recommend for both women and men:

1 teaspoon Ceylon Cinnamon (Organic) - I use whole foods.
1 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (Organic)
1 teaspoon Organic Lemon Juice - I use Volcano Lemon Burst from Whole Food replaced weekly, or keep in fridge then it will last a month. (Or fresh lemon juice).
1 tablespoon Organic or Raw Honey

Simply mix in a bowl, apply to your face and neck as a mask, leave on 10 minutes. Rinse off. Use 3x a week, but fine to use more such as daily each night.

Alpha Skin Cream Enhanced Renewal Cream 12% Glycoic AHA, you can apply to your face each morning and leave on/dont rinse to remove dead skin cells and regenerate new fresh ones.

(Optional) You can also put on a toner after the mask at night, 1 tablespoon Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 (or 2) tablespoon water, then just apply to your face, dont wash off.
Toners, which are more acidic (a pH of around 3-4), restore the skin to its natural pH.

Everyone who has tried it got great results.
