> Yes - I felt that. But to me it was because previously I was only aware of what I needed to see to get to where I am going. (I live in the centre of a busy city with lots of tourists, cars and noise) and my attention was narrow in focus (is that the same as what you call zooming in, I wonder?)
>
> on TAF I was aware of much more in my potential field of vision all at the same time. wide angle wouldn’t really be appropriate though - objects in the middle of my focus didn’t become less clear. i’m very surprised it wasn’t an overwhelming sensation.

Like an imaged wide angle vs. the true wide angle you get as a purely optiocal effect?

I’m surprised it’s not overwhelming, either.

It seems much more like an ability, or different NATURAL mode we’re switched into, rather than, say, a drug induced effect. It’s far too smooth.

> [@PheroQuirk](#):
>
> i wonder what the cognitive price might be? obviously there must be some kind of opportunity cost in the environment to which we are evolutionarily adapted otherwise we would be in that mode all the time. perhaps the time distortion might be part of it.

There’s probably a biochemical cost in terms of peptides burned and whatnot. (however, I didn’t notice post-TAF fatigue or anything)

Also, if it’s a childlike effect, then you could look at any adult that acts as a grown child to look at the “costs”. Probably more in terms of social acceptance, as your views in thise mode aren’t exactly going to jibe well with most. It’s like it’s meta and micro all at once, which isn’t exactly “normal”.

> [@PheroQuirk](#):
>
> Well, I suppose there is our answer. We’d never get any work done if using this all the time 😉

Well, depends on the kind of work.

I think it’s be remarkable for single tasking, and for creative tasks.

It’s this kind of meta intimacy with the world around you.

> [@PheroQuirk](#):
>
> Curious to know what context this crops up in naturally, if you can say? I mean, if I didn’t know otherwise, I would just have thought of this as a rather unusual neurotropic pharmaceutical or supplement.

If only piracetam did something like this.

It’s just one of many hormone related intermediates, like any [pheromone](https://a314.com/).

> What would make it sure that they would discover only charming facets of you though? I mean ever had the feeling of a case of mistaken identity - that some people like you for completely the wrong reason (for some reason due to their first impression or social proof they hold a belief about you that is just plain wrong). Not that one wants to have friends on that basis, but one doesn’t necessarily want acquaintances to know everything either.

Yes, I think they will find mostly charming aspects of you.

I am almost certain that much of our prejudgement and rejection of other people comes to us as a handle tool in order to handle a world full of so many people. With over 7 billion people on this planet, we simply don’t have tim to understand everyone.

Almost everyone I’ve seen that really takes another person into account, in detail, becomes very sympathetic to them. Sure, there’s always the exception that breaks and/or proves the rule, but I really do think that almost childlike empathy is the rule.

> Have you had any experience of TAA + beta-nol? Beta-nol already seems to have strange impacts on peoples’ ability to arrive at some kind of insights.

I do have some with the combination, certainly, but can certainly stand to use some more of those in distinct isolation. (at any one time, i’m usually just working on… far too much)

It definitely, can be used for one’s own benefit for insights, as you say. One our earliest users kept ordering more and more and more, until he got into commercial quantities.

Out of curiosity, we asked what he was doing with it. Turned out he was using it for meditation. He said it was the most powerful adjunct he had found to meditation in 20 years.

It won’t be terrifying if TAA is involved!

Yeah, the first pheromone to play the bongos! (and sneak off to Tuva 😉)

> [@PheroQuirk](#):

> So it potentially isn’t something one would wish to wear to the office - might prove difficult to narrow down one’s focus and get any work done.

I don’t know.

Again, I “narrow” my focus on TAF. Just not the normal definition of “narrow”.

I notice that using TAF I tend to talk more in intridcate layers of tangents, that are eventually tied together. Sort of like becoming an instant Richard Bandler or something.

Again, I think for some work, it’d be great.

It seems like I get “lost” in details with TAF, but now I don’t know if that means lost in many details or the few. They’re definitely new details, though. Usually things that were “obvious” that I had previously filtered out.

> [@PheroQuirk](#):
>
> The RAS also deals with achievement of goals, no?

It’s thought so.

It makes sense. It’s sort of like the starter for the whole brain, and helps to interface the outside world with the inner.

I have not noticed TAF being either motivating or amotivational. Perhaps I need to intentionally note that next time 'round.

> [@PheroQuirk](#):
>
> Oh and clarification here
>
> I did actually wear it to dance class and have more than usual trouble paying attention to learn the new steps. (Hard to attribute that to any one thing, but I suspect TAF did not help).

The question, perhaps, is what was or would’ve been easier in dance class? Where was your mind going?

It matters HOW you are paying attention

good old brain isn’t the simple aspic they make it out to be, visual and auditory processing systems are complex, sophisticated, multilayered things… TAF may have an evolutionary reason for kicking in at a precise moment in the mating sequence, say when you want to study the object of your affections exceedingly closely for genetic value.. the brain like to be conservative, it hates wasting computational power on familiar background features, so it labels most things _same old shit_ to be manouvered around and not thought about to hard.

Me neither. I suppose the test would be to try 75mcg every day for a couple of weeks.

Perhaps. But in various different groups we often see individuals with all kinds of adaptations that trade off particular skills or general intelligence in exchange for various costs (and costs that make it harder to fit in are not unknown). On the other hand, maybe some people (artists, musicians, poets?) are already seeing the world to some extent in this way - I don’t know.

This was TAF? Any better sense of how it affects cognition? That suggests it might also help one distinguish and see relationships between layers in one’s mind’s eye as it were.

How do other people relate to your conversation when you are in this mode? Can they follow, or is it something of a struggle for the ‘unenlightened’?

Interesting para explaining one aspect of RAS.

The RAS is like a filtering system of the brain. Writing it down sets up the filter. Things start to appear—it’s a matter of your filtering system.
If you have never owned a Honda before, and you buy a blue Honda, all of a sudden you see blue Hondas all over town. You might wonder. Where are all these blue Hondas coming from? But they were there all along; you were just not paying attention to them.

Yes!

How is your ability to abstract under TAF? I wonder if one risks becoming Fune the memorious? Although the problem is more a rhapsody of connections than of unconnected items.

It didn’t feel that way to me though I didn’t try to do any desk work under its influence.

> [@](#):
>
> he question, perhaps, is what was or would’ve been easier in dance class? Where was your mind going?

Just too aware of the whole room rather than focusing on the instructor and learning the steps.

Given the differences between men and women in modulating attention and pursuing goals, it would be interesting to know in what ways women experience the effects of TAF differently.

Yikes, Jasmin has a TAF attack !

not that she’s resort to hyperbole or anything… her report of a 75 mu shot of TAF was, well, enough to make one want to err on the conservative side with this fascinating molecule… see her blog for more details…

The way she described it, it sure sounds like a DOPAMINE releaser… the deliciousness of the chocolate, it might even have something to do with anadamides, those substances that cannabis mimics… a recently discovered neurotransmitter system that is related to fat metabolism (why greasy food can be so soul satisfying)… and yes.. other hedonic substance also move dopamine, that’s what gives you the big happy hit…

Obviously, different folks have wildly different sensitivites, 75 mu for us old phogies may barely wobble the brainstem, 75 mu for Jasmin sounds like an overdose… waaay too much dopamine can lead to overt paranoia, etc…

Psych note here : clinical paranoia DOES have a diagnostic sign of being grossly oversensitive to details and hyper-zeroing in on small factoids… schizophrenia also has a disordered dopamine system behind it..

We shall tread lightly with this fascinating TAF business…

I actually like the clarity of that “same old shit” phrase, because, indeed, much of the “new” I noticed on my last TAF walk might be considered “same old shit”.

Not so much things I’ve actively noted on the street before, but more like cookie cutter restaurants, hair salons and whatnot you see everywhere. Very much the “same old stuff” you tend to see nowhere particular.

I was so surprised that were a seemingly endless sea of them on this particular walk, as I truly hadn’t noticed them before in the tens I’d taken on this familar street prior. They’re actually out of context to what I had thought this street primarily consisted of.

It’d actually be a terrible pheromone to use for the initial pen to paper stages aspects of retail product design, because you wouldn’t design it to get the attention of passeryby’s who don’t notice anything. It’s better to get into the mindset that you wouldn’t notice a red & yellow missile heading toward your face for an exercise where you have to design an “attention getting” device.

On the other hand, it’d probably be great for finishing touches, or really early brainstorming sessions.

There does actually seem to be a period in the mating process which may be similar to the TAF effect. There is indeed a period of closeness where we do study each other closely, don’t we? That period where we “can’t seem to get enough of each other”? Good point.

So, let us speak of Orgasmotrons…

Inquiring minds want to know, does TAF increase tactile sensitivity ? Cannabis has too many downsides for me, legally, healthfully, etc.. but we did happen to notice that it sure increased skin sensation and changed time perception. Maybe you gurus should market a totally hedonic use-when-nekkid purple passion product… p.s. just handed my rent check in to the management office and i had picked up a vial that contained pure -none plus another material that i had written about before and another X factor i had stumbled across, one which is much, much too potent and unstable for our purposes… there couldn’t have been more than a couple of mu on my fingers, and the building manager lit up in the sweetest, atypical, GLOW… makes me think that some things may be far too powerful in certain expected dosage ranges but really add a nice spin in lower orders of magnitude…

nobody to play with for a few days… ☹ but will report back when i can re tactile sens.

do you suppose the sharp difference between MHarris’ and my reaction to a high dose and that of Jasmin reflects different baseline settings for men and women? women are supposed to be good at attending to multiple things at once whereas men are wired to spend days tracking and hunting the tiger. one sample ain’t exactly statistically significant, i will grant you. (and of course different body weights, liver capacity etc).

raising a new baby IS outrageously stressful

how soon i forget.. babies are demanding and they can yell so loud, gowdawful shrill like little car alarms going off at all hours, then they vomit all over your neck, crap their diapers incessantly, and it is stressful… probably being in a high stress state already had her background sensitivity turned up to 10.. that’s why.. 'cause you don’t know what someone else’s stress state is, not everybody wears their feelings on their sleeve, you might want to take it conservatively..

firing up the ol’ Orgasmotron…

soooooo… if we had an already successful, steamy, toe curling, down to the lizard bones sex mix, the twisted ju-ju you would not consider wearing in normal circumstances, and one were to tip in a modest but perceptible dose of TAF, 5-10 mu, you suppose that skin sensations would become more, ummmmm… enticing ? I’ve noticed TAF affecting others when combined with the neroli (orange) scent. I think it’s vastly more localized when unscented, or used with essential oils.

TAF hits the deck… it’s a dopamine baby !

Received my leaky bottle of TAF amongst other items to test. Stronng ass TAF (50 mu) was dripping out, although not much lost from the bottle… only enough to wet the cap and run a little down the sides, my FedEx guy was in a State Of Grace… as I washed the bottles down I was feeling absolutely, positively, a strong dopamine surge (I’m a low dopamine guy genetically and have taken various dopamine meds with mixed results). It wasn’t the harsh overdriven non-stop thing that so many oral meds or recreational substances (including good old ethanol) exhibit, just a clear purposeful sense of awareness and drive with a noticable middle of the brain buzz sensation… cute but gross anecdote here… I was about to run down the hall to relieve myself when the Fedex guy arrived, was TAF dosed, then trotted down the hall for a suddenly enhanced call of nature. Practically dove into the stall, slammed the door, then… OMIGOD that was so intense, a primordial visceral energy thing would happen to manifest in this way ? OK, whatever… on some level it’s all information I guess… well, off I go, time to be a busy bee and get the day’s tasks done… WHEW!

Hehe. Interesting feedback!

About the leak - was anything else leaking? Was it all contained? Could it have unscrewed itself a bit from the vibration or travel, or do you think it may have been elevation making it overflow?

only one bottle appears to have loosened

it looks like one cap was not tight, it wasn’t falling off or anything, leaking a touch around the sides… don’t overtighten them or thew will crack though, producing a worse leak and maybe some feedback from the folks at FeDex

Thanks for the feedback. Good points.

We’re almost out of those bottles, and they were recently discontinued, so I can’t get anymore. Maybe they were discontinued for a reason.

To me, the clear ones appear to “sweat” far more than the blue or amber round ones. Maybe sometimes they sweat near the neck and loosen the the cap a bit.

So far I haven’t seen problems reported with the blue ones yet.

TAF + alcohol

25mcg to the back of the neck, 25 to hair, 25 to chest of the shirt + kitchen sink mones elsewhere. Not an awful lot that is noticeable. Film star reaction when we go to the first bar. (Likely more a reaction to TAA, Shine and Turn up the Heat than anything else). Older chicks seem more attractive to me. Evening starts off well but we end up at a sadly-deserted (because it’s the new year) strip joint. Strippers seem even less attractive than usual (I hate those places and visit them rarely).

So I don’t have a great deal to say at this juncture about social reactions to TAF. Remains a topic to be explored.
