Hi all,

I’m quite a regular smoker and so I was wondering if this would have any effects on the effectiveness of the [pheromones](https://a314.com/shop/)?

Not just the effects of smelling bad but does any of the regular pheromone users notice an effect on the pheromores due to the chemical contents of the smoke? Such as a reduction in the time pheromones work, changes in the way they affect people etc.

Regards

Rattle

PS. I’m hoping to give up soon 😃

Probably impacts your sense of smell and taste the most. The second-hand smoke may bother some but the mones aren’t canceled out or disabled. They still work fine. Just hang with smoker babes and all should be well. I used to date a few women that smoked and I couldn’t handle their breath, but it should be okay if you’re both into it.

Hey Rattlesnake… I too am a regular smoker, and I’ve actually gotten just as many hits from non-smokers as from smokers! I have noticed it takes a bit more [Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/) for me to feel the proper effects, but a negligible difference. Really trying to quit though!

I don’t hang with smokers, no matter how attractive they are. As soon as I find out they smoke, bar very occasionally social smoking, I leave.

Hence my, thus far, futile efforts at quitting… Patch didn’t work, nor did the gum. Thinking about trying that Zyban pill… whatever it takes, I’m okay with it.

Hang in there, Snook. Don’t give up.

I work with drug addicts, and many of them successfully quit their habit. If they can, so can you.

Well, I had a drug problem back in my teen years, and I gotta say, that was a walk in the park compared to quitting smoking! I think I just need to be locked in a padded room for a month or so until the homicidal tendencies wear off… lol. Thanks for the support, Dmags…

Hey snook

Look into the prescription drug Chantix. I heard some guys at work who are trying to quit raving about it. My husband smokes and I was thinking about suggesting that to him next time he is ready to try and quit.

I do notice a lesser effect on smokers by the way. The mones still work but I just seem to need to use more to get them to. I have read that the smoke can damage the nasal passages, maybe over time it can damage the VNO as well.

Hey i tried to quit smoking… i went from marlboro lights to a heavier brand… kinda backed fired on me… so any mood enhancing [pheromone](https://a314.com/shop/) or something that can be used to boost attitude and will power would be nice to know off…

Hahahaha HABIB001, I tried that as well! I thought if I upped the strength then it would reduce the number of cigarettes I would take…all it did was increase my hatred of the Malboro Reds (Lung bleeders) and so when I returned to lights I ended up smoking more to make up for the higher nicotine content.

Tisha, you are correct, smoking reduces the smokers ability to smell and taste. Not sure if this impacts on the VNO or not. I can remember finding out how foul coffee tasted once I quit for a about a 2 weeks and could taste it again.

Snook, the key thing I try and remember when I tried to quit is that the first 2 days are the hardest. After 48 hours the nicotine will have left your body and you will have no cravings due to any physical needs for a smoke but rather psychological needs. And to beat that, you gotta stay away from anyone who smokes for a month or so…even then its still hard. Good luck though, I’m sure we can both make it.

One final thought to dissuade any one from taking up smoking and helping others to quit. One day, you may end up at a point where you need to smoke on the toilet just to take a poop! I have had several friends in that situation. If someone had told me that at the start, I may not of started in the first place.

Hope your all having a nice and relaxing Sunday everyone 🙂

Mines is actually a psycho addicition to ciggies and not a chemical dependancy on Nicotine. For me its the feeling of lighting, puffing and and the feel of the ciggie in my hand. Takes me back to the good old days when life was fun and stress less.

The age for smoking in 16 in The UK, the fun and thrill of buying a box of ciggies when your 15 or 14 and then hanging out with my friends and recounting the story of of i got away with them, the thrill of the chase.

Those were a bygone era, happy time, so for me, its just to feel good again. Especially now. When your 15 you dont realise how shitty life can be…

Agreed about the lack of smell… It’s actuallt hard for me to smell a Gardenia at this point, and many people say that their smell is overbearing to them… But at least shine still worked for me!

There are a very, very few people who can “give up” the pleasures of cigarette smoking, but most people can quit a habit they no longer enjoy or that is harmful and replace it with a new habit that is satisfying and healthy.

So.

Consider trying this approach. Find a time when you will have an uninterrupted half hour.

Lie down, and systematically, from fingers to body core, from toes to neck and face, tense your muscles, group by group, for a few seconds and then relax them. When you get to that whole-body-relaxed-state, just dwell there for a few minutes. You can think of anything or nothing, but stay awake.

Then, calmly think through this idea – you are talking to your unconscious mind: you have this clear sense that smoking cigarettes is a habit, one that you don’t enjoy so much, one that you’d like to replace with a habit that is healthier and more satisfying.

Then, ASK your unconscious mind to please consider allowing you to quit the cigarette habit, and to replace it with something healthier WHEN IT’S OKAY to do so.

Then, affirm that it is completely up to your unconscious mind to decide when and how. If it’s all right, would your unconscious mind please give you a clear signal of when it will be all right to smoke your last cigarette and celebrate starting a new habit?

You can repeat this relax-and-talk-to-UNC two or three times, separate days, a few days apart probably best. Don’t overdo, else it will perhaps begin to feel like “nagging.”

Then, forget you’ve done this exercise.

Wait for the cue from your unconscious mind as to when it is all right for you to have you last cigarette. You might wake up one morning and as you go to shower, it might just “pop into your head” that such and such a date will be your last day as a smoker.

Then you can proceed with confidence that you will, with minimum discomfort or withdrawal signs, be able to replace that habit with something much more enjoyable and healthy.

If you do this approach, please post your results, or PM me.
