I don’t find EW pleasant but nothing that will make me hurl or even flinch. Doesn’t smell much like the real deal to me.

Actually I don’t think androstenone smells exactly like piss. However they both share a common component (basenote?) as does workout armpit. I had a GF that generated androstenone down south after she worked out. I found it kinda sexy but gross at the same time.

I personally think -none smells sort of like sex.

On the trans-3-methyl-2-hexenoic acid (MHA): I’ve just recently read something else about methyhexenoic acid, cannot at the moment place it.

Here’s a olfactory theory of schizophrenia I’ve been mulling over:Suppose that MHA, or some other aromatic molecule, is something the human body produces only when experiencing some deep mental discord. In the normal case, the human produces this body odor, notices the smell, and initiates a process of mental calibration to return to homeostasis. Other humans who notice the odor “give that person space” as means to help them reduce stress.

However, also suppose that some humans are either unable to recognize the odor of this particular molecule, or are desensitized. If they do ~not~ self-signal mental calibration, as they get further and further into a stressful mental process state, they produce more and more of the molecule …

And, if the social result of sustaining this personal aroma is that people “give space”, it’s actually works as a territorial dominance function … unlike the A314 deference territoriality, the ‘nutcase molecule’ gets the individual ‘madwatch territoriality’.

And I would hypothesize that the average schizophrenic interprets the ‘space’ they get positively, not negatively.

I have still been thinking about this, on and off …

_“Depending upon who is doing the smelling, it is reported to be an unpleasant, sweaty, urinous smell, a woody smell, or even a pleasant floral smell.[1] ([Androstenone - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androstenone#_note-0))[2] ([Androstenone - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androstenone#_note-1))[3] ([Androstenone - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androstenone#_note-2)) The differences in perceived odor can be accounted for by the genetic differences in the OR7D4 receptor which detects the chemical. People who posess 2 proper genes for OR7D4 tend to describe the odor for the steroid as likable to urine. Those with only 1 gene typically described the odor as weak or were not able to detect it.7 Those with mutated copies of the gene described the odor as pleasant or sweet.[4]” ([Androstenone - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androstenone#_note-3))_

– “Androstenone.” _Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia_. 8 Oct 2007, 18:21 UTC. Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. 18 Oct 2007
[Androstenone - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Androstenone&oldid=163141413).
So, did I have two mutated OR7D4 copies all along and just fail to appreciate the -none smell before, or am I in the 1 mutated gene set but have ‘trained’ myself to recognize the odor and associate it pleasantly?

Or am I evolving genetically?😮

there’s a spelling mistake there… it’s possess not posess… 🙂
Perhaps there’s another allele?

[The First Human Gene for Detecting Pheromones Has Been Found! - The OR7D4 gene - Softpedia](http://news.softpedia.com/news/The-First-Human-Gene-for-Detecting-Pheromones-Has-Been-Found-66557.shtml)

> “The odor receptor has likely been shaped by evolution, because of the role the scent of androstenone and androstadienone plays in evaluating mates. One aspect of it is whether we can find evidence that odorant receptor variants play any roles in physiological changes caused by exposure of these sex steroid–derived odors. In other words, people who have two copies of functional variants might show more changes in mood or hormonal levels when exposed to androstenone or androstadienone”, she added

So the reason somebody is unaffected by the -none you’re wearing, may be because they don’t have the two copies of the alleles…
interesting stuff
