Here are the top 10 foods in my opinion!

* * *

**Goji Berry:** For nearly 2,000 years, this fire-red berry has been a staple in Tibetan medicine. Goji’s diverse nutrient profile includes antioxidants and phytonutrients, linoleic acid, polysaccharides, 18 amino acids, vitamins A, E , C and B, and 21 trace minerals!

**Mangosteen:** The Mangosteen’s rind and white inner fruit are rich in some of the most powerful antioxidants ever discovered. Among them are Xanthones–highly bioactive polyphenols that have been shown to possess remarkable antioxidant properties.

**Acai:** Acai berries are high in anthocyanins, a powerful class of flavonoids with well established free radical fighting abilities. One serving can contain as much as 33 times the antioxidant content as a glass of red wine!

**Pomegranate:** Ancient Egyptians called it the “Fruit of Immortality.” Today, we know it as one of the most effective antioxidants known. Pomegranate has been shown in numerous studies to support healthy cardiovascular and optimal cellular function.

**Noni:** With a nutrient profile that includes anthraquinones, organic acids, polysaccharides, vitamins and minerals, the fruit from _Morinda citribolia_ has been consumed throughout the ages to boost stamina and promote good health.

**Wheatgrass:** Wheatgrass is seventy- percent chlorophyll. Chlorophyll’s high enzyme content give it the label “live food” that helps neutralize toxins in the body, purify the liver, improve blood sugar problems, and improves digestion. In short, you can never have enough Wheatgrass to improve your health.

**Chlorella:** Chlorella is one-celled green algae that reproduces at a rapid rate. Chlorella contains 55 to 67 percent protein, one to four percent chlorophyll, nine to eighteen percent dietary fiber and large amounts of minerals and vitamins. The protein of Chlorella contains all of the essential amino acids required for the nutrition of animals and humans.

Chlorella’s health benefits are far-reaching, from helping lowering blood pressure to helping prevent atherosclerosis and helping decrease tumor activity. Chlorella’s benefit to the skin comes in its ability to detoxify the body, not allowing the skin to use any impurities in the body as new skin cells are produced. Chlorella’s fibrous material has been proven to actually bind with heavy metals and pesticides like PCBs that can accumulate in our bodies.

**Spirulina:** Spirulina is a single-celled fresh water algae and an incredible source of nutrients. It provides massive amounts of Beta-Carotene, Vitamin B-12, Iron and Chlorophyll. Spirulina also provides RNA, DNA and important GLA fatty acids.

**Garlic:** Studies by competent multi-degreed scientists have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that consuming garlic lowers blood pressure, lowers LDL Cholesterol, reduce atherosclerotic buildup, regulates blood sugar, prevents blood clots from forming, prevents cancer, reduces the size of certain tumors, removes heavy metals such as lead and mercury, is a potent natural antibiotic, has anti-fungal and anti-viral properties, dramatically reduces yeast infections, has anti-oxidant properties and is a source of selenium and has many other benefits. **Maca :** Maca’s reputation as a powerful strength and stamina enhancer as well as libido-enhancing food-herb stretches back into prehistory. Maca, like goji berries and ginseng, is a powerful adaptogen, which means it has the ability to balance and stabilize the body’s systems (cardiovascular system, nervous system, musculature, lymphatic system, etc.). As an adaptogen, maca can provide more energy if it is needed, but if it is not, it will not overstimulate. Adaptogens also boost immunity and increase the body’s overall vitality by 10-15% according to most studies. Rather than addressing a specific symptom, adaptogens are used to improve the overall adaptability of the whole body to diverse and challenging situations and stress.

During the height of the Incan Empire, legend has it that Incan warriors would consume maca before entering into battle. This would make them fiercely strong. But after conquering a city the Incan soldiers were prohibited from using maca, to protect the women from excessive sexual impulses.

What a great post. I LOOOVE mangosteen and pomegranate. I haven’t been able to find fresh mangosteen outside of tropical countries like Thailand. Do they import mangosteen to the States?

As far as the greens, I also take spirulina daily, and I should get some chlorella too. When I lived in a large city, I would always get shots of wheatgrass at my local organic grocery. That stuff tastes awful, but eating a slice of lemon immediately afterwards helps (like a tequila shooter --hahaha). I read somewhere that a one-ounce shot of wheatgrass has the nutritional equivalent of two pounds of vegetables!

I’d also like to start taking garlic tablets again, since they help your immune system and lower cholesterol too. I used to take them daily, but I had trouble with them irritating my stomach. They caused serious pain, so I had to stop taking them. I’ll have to see if there are any new brands out there that I can tolerate.

I’ll have to try some of the other supplements you recommend. They sound great.

Wohoo, I just got 3 pounds of chlorella arrive in the mail 5 minutes ago! I know chlorella very well and this one is the most potent chlorella I have ever eaten. It tastes extremely strong and discussing. The nastier the better. Nastiness means it contains more nutritional compounds. The nutritional analysis for this company’s chlorella is very impressive. They grow it in volcanic ash, so it contains every mineral know to man including massive doses of germanium. Pretty kick ass stuff. Tastes like eating a hand full of dead crabs and smelling inside a dead crabs shell. No matter, taste and smell are irrelevant for chlorella.🆒

Haha 😛 Wheatgrass tastes very good compared to the nastiness of chlorella’s taste 😉. Especially my new SUPER potent chlorella.

I have heard that too. I have even heard that 1g of chlorella is equal to 1kg of freshly picked organic vegetables right out of an average quality garden!

Here is some more:

Spirulina
Spirulina is considered to be the answer to global malnutrition and food shortages world wide. Spirulina, the world’s most digestible source of high quality protein, produces twenty times the amount of protein in soybeans. Spirulina is the best source of GLA and helps rebuild body tissue, reduce inflammation, improve hormonal balance. GLA has been known to be effective for the following health conditions: Cardiovascular disease, Arthritis, Skin Disorders, Allergies, Asthma, Multiple Sclerosis, Spirulina contains concentrations of nutrients unlike any other single grain, herb, or plant. Spirulina also contains phycocyanin, a potent anti-cancer phytochemical that also gives spirulina its characteristic blue hue. The mucopolysaccharides found in spirulina support healthy intestinal flora – the “friendly” bacteria in your digestive tract that protect you from disease and aid in digestion.

Chlorella
Chlorella is known to be a complete whole food and has been found to boost the immune system, detoxify the body, improve digestion, accelerate healing, relieve arthritis pain, and aid in the prevention of degenerative diseases. Chlorella is the richest source of chlorophyll on planet Earth. There’s nothing more cleansing and detoxifying than chlorophyll. Chlorophyll actually helps remove heavy metals from your body that have accumulated due to the ingestion of contaminated food products. This chlorophyll cleanses the liver, kidneys and blood of toxins and metabolic impurities. The cleansing effect of chlorella and spirulina isn’t limited to only those who engage in substance abuse. Thanks to environmental toxins, air pollution, water pollution and other contaminants, we are all exposed to toxic substances, even if we avoid the worst habits like smoking. As a result, we can all benefit from the cleansing and detoxifying effects of chlorella and spirulina. CGF (chlorella growth factor), which is found in the nucleus of the chlorella cell, actually promotes the body’s innate healing ability to grow and repair nerve tissue. Studies have shown that Chlorella’s ability to fight tumors, viruses, and cancers are nothing short of remarkable. Simply inject chlorella into breast cancer tumors, and they are “killed completely.” Chlorella increases the blood chemistry of the body by increasing red and white blood cells, platelets and albumin. People with cancer normally have a decreased level of albumin.
