Yesterday (Friday), I found out about a singles event in a neighborhood I’ve never been to before, but with an organization I’ve used in the past and had occasional success with. So, I decided to. I had nothing else to do that night, and going to a new neighborhood would definitely be a nice change of scenery. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to try out some sexual pheromones I normally don’t use very much. So, I put on 2 sprays of Turn Up The Heat behind the ears, 2 sprays of [Instant Gentleman](https://a314.com/product/gentleman/) on the neck, and 2 sprays of Instant Openness in the hair. Then I put on nice clothes, and started driving to the even. Here’s what transpired when I got there. The event was set in a regular nightclub, as opposed to in a banquet hall or a restaurant, like the ones I’ve been to in the past.

**Bartenders**
There were two of them, a guy and a girl. I noticed the guy showing signs of mild covert aggressiveness, such not talking except saying “what would you like?”. However, when I paid with two-dollar bills I got from my bank (it’s a tactic I use to get the attention of bartenders in general), he did a complete 180 for some reason, and started being really nice, and served the second I stepped up to the bar. One other thing to note is that he did not ask me for ID, while he asked another customer who clearly looked older than me. The girl was smiling at me a lot, and kept checking up on me to make sure I have everything I want. I would have flirted with her, but the music was so loud, that it was virtually impossible to carry a conversation.

**People at the bar**
I noticed a man (Caucasian, in his 50’s) sitting next to me. It seems like he was getting intimidated by the androstenone I was wearing, 'cause I noticed him being slightly skittish and avoiding eye contact with me. I didn’t think much of it, but made a mental note of it. Other people, both men and women, were being very polite when saying “excuse me” to go past me. Overall, I think wearing a higher-than-normal dose of TUTH was resulting in that behavior. After fueling up just enough to feel the buzz, I proceeded to the dance floor.

**On the dance floor**
Now, this is where I had mostly no-hitters. I kept getting rejected on multiple occasions, with a few exceptions. I danced twice, but it was only the reserved, non-contact dancing. (Ghosting, perhaps?) I even got the impression that they were courtesy dances (to be courteous to someone who took the time to ask), as opposed to attraction dances (because you’re attracted to the person). With that said, it was mostly an older crowd, 35 and up, while I’m 26. I met an older woman at a singles’ event one time, but in retrospect, it was probably an isolated incident. So, I decided to cut my losses, and headed home as soon as I was OK to drive.

**Inside a White Castle**
While driving home, I got really hungry, and the only place that was open was a White Castle. As I was walking from my car to the door, I saw a group of guys acting a little crazy. They appeared to be in their late teens or maybe early 20’s. I went inside, and was about to take my place in line. Given how they were standing, it was hard to tell where the line ended, so I asked: “are you guys in line?” They said “yeah”, and immediately stood in an actual straight line. Also, they stopped being loud, only talking quietly to the person next to them. I took a spot at the end, and waited. When they got their food and went to their table (away from my pheromone cloud, that is), they started talking louder again.

While I didn’t get the hits I was aiming for, the TUTH I was wearing certainly got me some unintended hits. While I’m learning to act more confident, I still don’t think I carry an intimidating presence. But with the pheromones, it seems like I did just that, particularly with the way the guys in White Castle acted. I’m sure knowing this can benefit me in the future. Obviously I’m not going to fall for the “if 2 sprays are good, then 4 will be twice as good” trap. Then again, if those hits were simply coincidences, oh well. But I still think the combination worked.

I’ve noticed that if you look at the women around you when you are dancing, they stay away. If you go up to girls and start dancing with them, they usually will not want to dance.

For me the secret seems to be just listen to the music and start enjoying the dancing and become oblivious to your surroundings. Then before you realize it, you will be surrounded by women bumping into you and looking at you. It’s almost bizarre the way this works. It seem like the very act of observing the women on the dance floor seems to repel them.

Anyone else experience this same thing? Does anyone have an explanation for this?

There are different schools of thought on this. Some people tell you the same thing you’re saying; act like you can have a good time dancing with or without a partner. Other people tell you to _never_ dance by yourself. I take somewhat of a compromise of the two, and follow the 3-second rule, which is ask a girl to dance within 3 seconds of seeing her. In other words, don’t observe, take action. Similarly, if you’re dancing by yourself for a long time, it sends women a message that you can’t find someone to dance with.

The problem is compounded by the following: if girls see you getting rejected, they will almost certainly reject you too. For example, if one girl rejects you and three girls see you get rejected, you lose a chance not with one, but with four girls (social proofing coming into play here.) The solution then would be to move away from the section where you got rejected. In my case, I didn’t have that luxury since the dance floor was small enough to see across. In general, if you’re going to approach women on the dance floor, move around different parts periodically, and ask when you’re not in plain view of other girls.

The 3-second rule was invented by Mystery years ago and Mystery has always been opposed to dancing on the dance floor. He used to call it a trap.

I think the dance floor requires a slight variation of the 3 second rule. On the dance floor, a guy should approach within 3 seconds of getting an IOI, not within 3 seconds of seeing the woman.

I always dance by myself on the dance floor. If you are enjoying yourself, it does not lower your social status as long as you don’t dance for too long alone. I’ve had women approach me or give me strong IOIs after dancing alone on the dance floor for 5 or 10 minutes.
