Yes, pretty dramatically unless estrogen is supplemented after menopause. Estrogens keep things “pink and squishy,” to quote our beloved moderator … and those levels fall gradually, starting by the 30s.

Hahahaha. I assumed you’re the one that found alum in the ingredients. I didn’t check, but a lot of these type of products do use alum.

There is a limerick forming here I won’t bother to type. 😛

Grins. It is potassium alum, used in a slew of different things from tanning leathers to keeping pickles crisp and probably those really sour teeth disintegrating candies too.

Persimmons have enough alum in them naturally to pucker your mouth if you try to eat one that isn’t ripe enough yet.

It is in a few of the vaginal tightening products because it claims to contract muscles. Carry is right it probably would just cause drying.

Oh boy!😮 Do you know if supplementation with Estrogen helps in bringing it back to it’s “pink and squishy” state? How about the muscle tone there? Does that improve with hormone treatments?

Yes it does, on both counts. Hormones are a wonderful thing, eh?

Thanks Carrie! Also while we are here do you know if estrogen converts back to testosterone in any way (possibly showing up as masculinizing features with over use for a period of time).
We know testosterone aromatises to estrogen but how about the reverse conversion…does it happen at all or is it impossible? Do you know if excess estrogen converts to any other hormones? Thanks again!

You got me there, nbully - I’ve never heard about estrogen converting.

How about a possible feedback loop..any side effects you are aware of with estrogen supplementation?

We know testosterone supplementation in men causes HPTA shutdown leading to lowered testosterone production by the body. I think in men even estrogen supplementation might lead to reduced testosterone production in men since the body sees a high level of estrogen to mean a high level of testosterone in the body (considering the conversion process is just one way testosterone -\> estrogen) and shuts down testosterone production (the reason why fat people with higher estrogen might find it increasingly harder to increase their testosterone levels and lose weight).

But how about women??
