Trying to finish the book up and it is simply amazing. A friend suggested this to me and its absolutely wonderful.

My top 5 happens to be: Restorative, Focus, Deliberative, Intellection and Relator. Yeah, fairly “girly” traits. The restorative trait anyways. Or at least according to my friend.

Anyways, the book was written by the guys over at Gallup. They have an entire series. The first part of the book is called “First break all the rules” the second part is “Now, discover your strengths.” I believe it was a book for management originally, but now more and more “regular” people are looking into it. There’s also Strength Finder 2.0 which elaborates a little more on each talent and suggests fields or careers that you may excel in. There’s more to the series like “how full is your bucket” and I think one more.

The gist of the book: People keep focusing on their weaknesses and keep trying to over come them. It’s not a bad thing, but its more efficient to play to your strengths and finding ways around your weaknesses.

For those of you who don’t know what Gallup is, they’re the ones that do all those polls. Well maybe not all of them, but some of them. They’re also a company that does consulting and analysis for organic growth.

Tried that. It’s cool. Don’t have it in front of me so I can’t really elaborate, let alone remember my all 5 strengths.

I’m not sure..but I think that tells you how helpful it’s been. 😛

It’s fine for recognizing your strengths, but after that..well it’s really not that useful. 😃

yeah, thats why they came out with Strength Finder 2.0. Now, discover your strengths tell you about it and tell you what your strengths are. Hence the title. The next actual book in the series tells you what to do with them.

the friend that recommended the series to me, surprise surprise works for Gallup, but also recommended a lot of other books not by gallup for business, management and money. I take his advice a lot mainly cause he’s done really well for himself. He’s 26, a partner at gallup, has his own business on the side earning him money and owns his own place in Irvine. When I see him using his talents, applying the stuff in the books to his life, I can’t help but do so myself. I mean the guy earns at least 500k a year, works with the top CEOs of huge companies like Toshiba, Toyota, Honda to work out a 50 million dollar deal which is essentially just an idea in his head on how to improve an already successful company. Is everything that he suggests easy to do? fuck no. Is it possible? yea, if I try. He pretty much guides me and counsels me on things from what to do with my money to how others are using talents similar to mine, and how to be not only successful at what I want to do, but to actually find something that I WANT to do.

You’re really lucky you have a friend like that you can talk to, learn from, and share ideas with. I’ll come back to this later, I have to go right now. Looks like you have some reading to share with me. 😃 😉
