> Why is that so surprising?

Because if you were able to predict with _better accuracy_ _than I was_ something that happened to my body on a fairly regular cycle then you’d be surprised as well.

I grew up with a sister that experienced severe dysmenorrhoea. I’m also very familiar with differing length cycles, variable cycles, the unpredictability of them, and the changes that the Wellesley effect can have on the cycle period. But all that said, menstrual cycles are not random, otherwise they wouldn’t be called cycles.

One girlfriend explained that she felt that the periodicity made her feel like a “baby-machine” and like “a mere animal” (her words, not mine) and that not thinking about it was a way of sort of re-humanising herself. I’m not saying that this is what other women feel, but at least in her case, she was actively ignoring her cycle. A practical side-effect of this was always making sure we had bleach, stain removers, laundry detergent and a change of bedsheets in the house.

BTW, I’ve found the grumpiness is the least obvious sign overall: changes in scent (nape of neck and other places), body temperature changes, skin tone and posture are also indicators. All these have low [specificity](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensitivity_and_specificity) but they’re sometimes better than “Isn’t your period due?” “How dare you assume… \<rant\> \<rant\> \<rant\> \<rant\> \<rant\> \<rant\> oh, my period’s arrived… er can you put a white wash on?”

> So as a women then…what do you think? _No none during the cycle or some none?_

Not as a woman, but I’d assume:

- menstruating-and-not-being-able-to-get-pregnant = no ~none
- fertile-as-fuçk = ~none

There’s quite a lot in the studies forum [here](http://www.pheromonetalk.com/studies-abstracts/) and I remember reading one paper that saw equivocal results that (from memory) ~none’s positive effects either dissapeared or backfired (increased irritability) during menstruation.

In my experience…

During menstruation none is just likely to cause frustration + with already heightened emotional sensitivity the irritability that none can cause is just more likely to get you into fights than anything else.

Just before menstruation - None will increase the likelyhood of sex - but the cost is STILL heightened irritability… I’ve noticed that my LTR gets cranky even before the red stuff starts flowing (a day or two before) - None amplifies this crankyness.

Personally… the days before it comes my LTR has a high sexual drive anyways… the irritability none creates is NOT WORTH the extra horniness (since how much sex I get during that period is a function of how much sex I want to get anyways).

During menstruation it is DEFINETLY not worth wearing none (unless you like diving into the red sea… and even then I don’t think the irritability is worth it)

If you pay attention to her scent cycle through the month, you can know better than she can by scent. I was always able to tell two to four days before they knew that way.

Interestingly, on the day my ex would ovulate, she had this amazing scent that literally drove me crazy, and I could not have enough sex with her no matter hat I did. Whenever I smelled her neck and suddenly felt like an animal with no other purpose in life but to f\*ck… I knew she was ovulating.

Usually the scent shift indicating menstruation is only obvious if you are frequently giving your lover oral sex. In my experience, it’s rather suddenly like she is a different woman… sort of a duskier scent than normal. Usually I would smell that a day or so before she went bananas, and over time I got to know when the “lock myself in my office” part of the month was without ever getting in a fight.

I’m sure it’s different from woman to woman, but those are the experiences I have had with my last three LTRs.

As for pheromones, obviously A1. I have found meo est works well, too. So does TAA/[Instant Shine](https://a314.com/product/shine/), and if you can handle her crying all over you sometimes, beta nol too. My ex used to love to lay across me on the couch when I would wear my Calm Down, Woman! mix. She liked it that I would cuddle her when she was going through it, although if I didn’t wear my mix, she would drive me into the office pretty quick. With the mix, she was very cuddly, and we actually managed to bond emotionally every month when that would happen.

I haven’t had to use it in a long time, but I think the mix was 20 mcg A1, 10 mcg beta nol, and 10 mcg TAA originally, and later I added some meo est, but I don’t remember how much.

Oh, almost forgot. TAH helps, too. I used to have her wear that, don’t remember the dose.

Yes to all of the above - I’m not just familiar but scientifically researching some of the peripheral effects. Once you get the hang of the cycle, and start ‘joining the dots’ with some human anthropology it’s not rocket science.

The only symptom that I’m still haven’t got a solid (personal) theory about is the sexual surge a few days before the period starts, which I’ve noticed in a few women. The reason for the surge _before and during ovulation_ is obvious (as is the positive sensitivity to ~none that happens at the same time). But the sexual surge just before menses I can’t work out: it could be physical rather than biological (by this I mean it’s a side-effect of gential engorgement and temperature changes rather than desire-driven). Still thinking about this one.

I’d assume that there’s some self-selection bias going on Pherotalk: those more likely to be aware of their own and other’s chemistry will have a propensity to try [pheromones](https://a314.com/). You’ll probably get a higher incidence of people knowledgeable about menstruation in this forum that -say- one about computer hardware modding.

I was really directing those questions to guys in general (with limited science back ground) 🙂 I would assume that someone with a backgound in science knows more than the average guy 😉

Well if you think about it… In the luteal phase Progesterone is the predominant hormone & it shifts the androgen metabolism towards Testosterone rather than E2. Progesterone & Testosterone levels in women are highest around the mid-luteal phase which could account for some of the increased libido the week before menstruation.

I have been studying these charts on and off for about a week to get a better understanding of womens cycles. I had a question about Days 25-28, just before the period? What generally is the mood of women at this point _just before she starts the flow_? Are they still interested in sex or because the progesterone levels have dropped so much lower, they have no interest in sex? Do most women already have some cramping, headaches, or not till usually until they actually start?

my ex is a person very sensitive to pheros. she detects the tiniest amounts of -none. on one occasion i’ve noticed she was reacting very good to IG while in period. so, i guess it’s safe to try it due to it’s masculine warmth.
