Dear friends,

I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People,
a new feature on [WhiteHouse.gov](http://WhiteHouse.gov), and ask for your support. Will you add your
name to mine? If this petition gets 99,999 signatures by September 14, 2015,
the White House will review it and respond!

We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama
Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets
enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

You can view and sign the petition here:

Here’s some more information about this petition:

Pass legislation that requires mandatory labeling on all
genetically modified food.

Under current regulation we do not have the ability to know about the food
we are eating.
There is currently no labeling, no regulation, and no human health studies on
GM food, yet 75% of food consumers eat is genetically engineered.(GMA)
Americans have the right both democratically and constitutionally to know
what is in their food.
Although claims that bioengineered food is “not inherently
dangerous” there has been no human health studies, no carcinogenicity
tests, and no long term health studies on the health effects of GM food. A
recent study shows that insecticides from genetically engineered corn were
showing up in the umbilical cord of pregnant women. ([NCBI.gov](http://NCBI.gov))
93% of Americans surveyed want the United States federal government to
require mandatory labeling.(Thomson Reuters)
