Is it supposed to smell like tube-roses? Heavy, sweet, intoxicating?

Its a sweet heavy scent simular to jasmin.

This is how my aromatherapy book describes it…

> **Scent of ylang ylang:** The fragrance is intensely sweet, heady, floral, and slightly spicy, with a narcissus or bananalike overtone.

Hope that helps

It’s also super expensive. So if you find it cheaply somewhere, it’s usually been cut with a carrier. But it can be so overwhelmingly sweet otherwise and you may be turned off it. I made up a great mix a while ago with ylang-ylang, jasmine (another super expensive) and neroli (not cheap either!) (is there a theme here to my fragrance favs?) mixed into a carrier oil and find it gives me such a balanced sense of well-being with just four drops a night massaged into my neck. I sleep like babe, in these troubled times. I have also read it can give you sexy dreams!

Ooh, another great fav is a citrusy one called May Chang which I keep on hand to sniff my blues away!

An inexpensive source of the ylang-ylang scent is “kananga water.”
