Hey dudes, just a quick question I thought I’d throw at you. My skin is really terrible to manage at times, not exactly acne but the odd spot or two or three or four. Pretty active young man, 21, try to eat healthy.

Any advice?

There’s a couple of schools of thought on this that I can offer. First off I can assure you that whatever that occasional spot or two might be from you can get it to go away. We’ve all been there in life and its all the crap they put into stuff, even stuff you might think is healthy.

I’m sure you have tried many things like creams and tonics and most don’t do anything except ring up the cash register (Cha-ching) for the celebrity of the day. There was a while that I suffered from spots too, so I can completely agree with you that its tough, but there are solutions.

A couple of things that have tremendously improved my skin have been stop eating wheat based products, soy based products as many people are allergic to them and aren’t even aware of it. It’s not your fault, its the stuff they put in products they say are good for you. Try washing with Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother in it.

I know that it sounds strange, but it works incredible. I stopped using soap on my face and the results have been awesome. Also once or twice a week I take some Organic unrefined coconut oil and use it as a lotion on my face. You would be amazed how quickly the face absorbs it and the difference it makes.

I was once refered to as " a ken doll with acne" - you have no idea how bad that pissed me off LOL. In my search for a clear face i found vitamin B5… Many studies have shown that Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) reduces acne… and can even get rid of it all together. B5 is great because you can not over dose it either… if you have too much…your body will flush it out. …

For me it was dairy products. Once I got rid of them my skin improved dramatically! Noticed that at the start of my 3 year long journey into veganism… I’m back to eating meat and eggs, but I still try to avoid most dairy products. Fortunately I don’t have problems with soy products, so I can use this stuff as replacement.

I should check this coconut oil stuff - have seen this coming up every now & then…

Personally, I try and cut unnecessary grease and oils in my diet. Not only is it better for my health, but I can feel it seep up into my face, making it oily.

Great advice above steve. For me fish oil helps a lot to get great skin texture and gives more of a tan look to me. I was reading up on celebrities such as jessica alba and jennifer lopez using fish oils thru out the day, which now i am taking advantage of, and it sure is helping me.Benefits are not only for skin but many other important functions of the body. Im not sure if this will be of major help to celtic as he has a little trouble with acne and fish oil is known for increasing testosterone production.

I still get shaving rash and the occasional pimple so don’t worry!

Simple routine, exfoliating scrub, shave properly (with the grain) and moisturise. A lot of spots are ingrowing hairs that don’t have the strength to grow through the skin. deal with the tough skin and you are halfway there.

And when you’re 60, a lot of 20something chicks will think you’re late 30’s.🙄

I use the proactive cleanser, i only ordered it cause of a friend of the family was using it and having amazing results. It is definitely worth the purchase, and i hear that you get best results if you use a moisturizer after use, i’ve been trying that lately, and as long as you keep it up, not only does it clear up your current acne, and blemishes, but it prevents new ones from appearing. it works great! 🙂

hope i helped . Marc~

Surfing around for some good skin care products, I happened upon this skin product website that actually sell a number ingredients that are used in popular and expensive skin care products.

You can pick, choose, and combine these ingredients to create your own skin cream/lotion to suit your specific skin care needs. Do it yourself style.

Or you can add ingredients to the skin care product of your choosing regardless of brand,(This company also make their own skin creams/lotions.) to bolster or modify it’s effects to your liking.

Here is a link to the company and their forum.

Hope you find the help you need, celtic1989.🙂

Granted I’m not a young _guy_ but I can attest to this as well. Proactive is the only thing that has worked for me. Now I find that I get my best results when I use Proactive and then before bed I apply a moisturizer with retinol. This works wonders for me.

I have been using Apple Cider Vinegar for 2 weeks on my face and I can tell you that it has made a major difference. In fact the wrinkles around my eyes (do to tanning when I was younger) have been fading away. It makes the skin a lot softer. I have been using retin a for about 6 months and this stuff blows it away. I mix it 2 parts of water to 1 part of vinegar. You will need to rinse a bit do to the odor of the vinegar odor.

This stuff is amazing!!

I agree with Diamond. I use Clinique Men’s Face scrub and hydrator. I very rarely get blemishes anymore. I also have noticed my smile lines slowly going away. Letting shaving cream sit on my face for a minute or so before I start shaving has helped with razor bumps. I also have heard that pro active works wonders and is not a bunch of hype. From the people I know that use it, it worked on 80% of them. I have to say, the vinager thing looks interesting.

Important also is shaving _after_ your shower. The steam from the shower softens the beard.
