Other than [pheromones](https://pheromonelabs.com/), what life hacks do you employ? Please do share your solutions.

To quote Wikipedia…
_"…any sort of trick, shortcut, skill, or novelty method to increase productivity and efficiency, in all walks of life_."
Personally, I’d like an effective procrastination-stopper. ADD meds aren’t going to be an option. ☹

Dont know if these would be considered Life hacks but I believe everything we do effects the quality of our lives in some way.

I am a big fan of meditation so I practice many forms of that.

I use the brain wave CD’s for various purposes and I have a brain wave program on my IPod which I love. I want the light sound machine but haven’t gotten it yet.

Bach flower remedies. I love them.

Aromatherapy oils

Rocks and crystals, they hold certain energies and I just love them.

I am gonna include my juicer because when I use it it really enhances not only my health but the condition of my skin and hair to. Of course it depends on what you juice in it. If your healthy your more productive and efficient

Herbal teas are good for all sorts of problems even focus. I drink tea every day.

Working out of course. Right now I am using Zumba and I love it its so fun. I find when I work out my mind is more clear and I am more focused and productive all day.

Detoxing

oil pulling which I learned here.

I am not a big fan of supplements but I do have and use some Nootropics. Never heard of them till Jasmin brought the subject up and suggested them.

Hypnotherapy CD’s I have a lot of them and I did take a course. They have them for all sorts of problems or goals. I got one on focusing for my son because he has ADD and it helped but being a teenager he doesn’t listen to it enough. With self hypnosis it takes repeated listening and to the CD’s and he wont do it.

I have a nature sound therapy program on my computer my kids actually made for me at mind movies. I love it. Its got different pictures of nature that slowly flash by with the sound that go’s with it like rain. thunder, birds, my cat purring. You can stop it on one or let them run through. I like to pick one and stop it. Its relaxing and reduces stress.

I cant think of anything else offhand. I think the best way to avoid procrastination is really to just do it. Dont accept any excuses from yourself. Tools are only gonna help if you use them. I know that sounds insensitive but believe me I procrastinate to a lot more then I should. I have a daily reminder pop up on my computer that I fill up with stuff I have to do the next day and it pops up periodically on my screen. If I didnt I could sit here all day talking to you LOL

Edit to add \>\>\>\>\>

I forgot one of my most important activities LOL ,

Chakra clearing and balancing. I use the silva method and the chakra portal.

Books, I just love reading especially in the summer when I can go for a hike and just sit out in nature reading.

Learning to read body language and NLP improved my productivity alot.

Coffee for my mood.
Meditation and Binaural Beats to clear my mind.
Chamomile tea before bed.
Lime always mixed in with my alcohol (lol, it says ‘in all walks of life’…)
Memorizing things that need to be stored long term before bed, and by applying narration or elaboration.

I do do the supplements, which help my body either sleep (melatonin/tryptophan) or wake (SAM-e/methionine/phenylalanine etc). Keeps you looking younger too.

Have tried nootropics, Piracetam (don’t drink with it! helps you pass out quicker), Aniracetam (didn’t really do much), Sulbutiamine (helped recovery) and Picamilon (helped slightly with concentration/anxiety)

iPhone and apps help organisation immensely.

Macs are brilliant too. Productivity apps: 1Password, Quicksilver, TextExpander, Hazel, Little Snitch, Busy Cal, Billings, CloudApp

Websites that service me: [iHerb.com](http://iHerb.com) (cometics/supplements), [barefoottess.com](http://barefoottess.com) (shoes, shoes, big wonderful shoes), [amazon.com](http://amazon.com) (for checking reviews then buying elsewhere), [bookdepository.com](http://bookdepository.com) (usually has the obscure cake books I lust after)

Vibram Fivefingers are useful in so many situations and sometimes it feels nice to go barefoot

Trialling Bikram yoga, first time was sweat city.

Kindle and a website which starts with D…

Tisha, you’ve got a lot of new age-y things on your list. I’ll have to consult it when I get more in touch with myself.

LOL Thats the short list (snort) 😛 Life is so full of new things to learn and try its exciting. Just not enough time to do them all.

I love my IPad and my Itouch but I am dieing for a Kindle. Thats probably next on my list. 😃

I have taken Yoga but havent tried Bikram yoga. Isnt that the one you do in a really hot sauna like room ? How was it ?

Only the Brainwave CDs and the light sound machine are new age. Most of the rest have been practiced for centuries people just tend to refer to them as new age.

During stressful times I like to apply the Buddhist principal of having a “wise mind”.

It’s very simple. You take a step back from your thoughts and look at your rational thoughts and your emotions towards that certain subject you combine the two to make a “wise” decision. Many people think only with their rational or emotional mind so this trick is great. It’s easy and it’s free.

Dark chocolate and red wine. (in moderation!)
Chocolate covered fiber one bars. I’m always running around and I don’t get to eat often.
Smiling.

Since some of the posts were a little more life-philosophy-esque:
Realizing life is too short to get caught in other people’s personal problems.
Especially drama. If someone wants to create drama, that’s their problem, and if they want to involve me it’ll be entirely one-sided. Life is _way_ too short for that shit.
(which doesn’t suggest you shouldn’t have empathy, but which is to suggest you shouldn’t let them become _your problems_)

Instead of obsessing over finding “what makes you happy,” recognizing “what makes you un-happy” and learning to accept, eliminate, or cope better with it. Which is not to say you shouldn’t look for things that make you happy, just that you find better contentment and peace when you can recognize your stresses and triggers, and learn to negate their stressing effects.

I’ve always had older friends, so throughout the years I’ve grown more mature because of them. Most people my age are trying to figure out who they are, I was doing this years ago, and have since moved on to preparing for my future and really thinking about the next 10-15 years.

I also was blessed with a psychic ability (Clairsentience), and am able to feel most peoples emotions. It’s a dating-life hack because unlike most women, I know how a man feels about me within the first 15 minutes of meeting him; I also know if his feelings change, and if he’s lying or not. (Ex. Whether or not he will call, etc.) I use my ability to my advantage by staying a couple of steps ahead of them =)

I guess you could consider those life hacks
🙂

Interesting how different everyone’s perspectives are. Makes me realise how far from spiritual I am.

Once I get talking philosophy you can’t stop me, but generally I can talk it, but haven’t perfected walking it.

Bikram is torture… but the heat seems to make you bend a bit more. And it sounds like rain with all the dripping bodies… I suppose that’s peaceful. I don’t know if it’s the yoga that does it, but the instructors seem really cultish… Whenever they talk to you they end it with “…my friend”, and don’t dare leave the room, you’ll get a real scolding.

I dont know if I could focus with the heat. Yoga is supposed to be peaceful and relieve stress but your class seems stressful. If you feel tortured it may not be the class for you. How long have you been doing it ?

I dont think philosophy is something that can be perfected. Its something that evolves as we evolve.

I guess those can be a hacks. I see my ability(clairvoyant/sentient/empathic) as just being part of who I am but I suppose it would fall under a skill used to make life more productive. Its not something I consciously do, it just comes like breathing. For the most part its been a blessing but I cant always say I felt like that. I like the quote M&M (member here) has in his signature. “What people think of me is none of my business”. Knowing is not always easy or productive. Its definitely not easy when you feel what they feel. Emotion is funny, when you can feel what others feel you have to peel back the layers. People tend to lie to themselves emotionally as well as those around them.

I’m just on the introductory pass. Two classes so far. I thought I could kill two birds with one stone sauna + exercise, but I don’t know how well that’s going to work. Still I’ll keep trying different things till I find something that suits. Pilates might be next.

Re: clairvoyance how can you say for sure? I suspect myself as as highly sensitive. But often I run away from too much emotion because it’s too much. I can be very intuitive though, so it helps me think outside the square.

A big one - look for the hidden treasures.

If everyone else sees the value in something and is competing for it, forget about it. That is an obvious treasure.

Look in the places other people don’t see value. There are amazing treasures to be found for the taking.

This is truly a hack. You are in the game but playing by different rules.

Aside from stating the obvious…healthy clean diet, exercise, meditation, herbs, supplements, aromatherapy, homeopathy, and staying away from psychos, I could easily write a litany about this but the condensed version is…

Daily, I strive to reduce/eliminate the stressful negative/oppressive influences in my life to leave room for the more positive uplifting ones. I take people at face value and am open to them. I trust and believe what they tell me unless/until they show me I’m not able to.

I would never presume to qualify myself as a clairvoyant/empath, though I have a gift that I realized at age 6. 🙂 Everyone is born with this “psychic” ability though some are more in tune with it than others. 😉 I only run into trouble when I let over thinking ignore my instincts.

My most successful “life-hack” is…being warm, friendly, and keeping an open mind/heart thus allowing myself to be open to suggestion/improvement/change/love. There is no magic formula for success of any kind. You may pick up a few technical pointers from books/CD’s/visual aids or tips from an alleged/self-proclaimed spiritual guru but none will truly help unless you learn how to apply them to impact your daily life. Life is a process of trial and error before you discover what “program(s)” work for _you_.

The one thing I’ve come to very clearly understand from experiencing life in general is…there’s more than one way to do things correctly. What works great for me may not work that way for you. We are individuals and as such our paths, even to the same goal, will be different, sometimes vastly. So I don’t follow anyone else’s path. I forge my own. 🙂

Hmm life hacks…

**Books** , it sounds vague and boring but really it helps you escape, realize, remember and learn. I tend to buy more designer books because it’s visual… It’s nice to see beautiful art works - candy for the eyes and soul.

**Carrots** random but I can keep eating this without getting sick of it for life.

**Musuems** art museums are great, love them… I hate exercising in the gym, instead I just walk around a lot, it just makes me feel good to see beautiful things that are made by great artists.

**Meditation** , sometimes I just need my own space with no one around me. Sometimes I do the chakra clearing as well. It helps you find yourself and sharpens your intuition.

**Salt baths at night** , helps me stay grounded and removes my negativity it’s sort of like meditating but it’s more cleansing specially after you’ve had a stressful day.

**Moon** , when I see the moon out my window - I could stare at it for hours, it’s just beautiful.

**Bistros and coffee shops** , I’m not talking about second cup and starbucks. The small italian or french shops with soft classy music with great friends really makes you forget about time.

**Sweets** I am guilty of loving pastries and chocolate - it’s not a good thing for everyday. But sometimes I just need my fix of … 3 gourmand cupcakes + 5 flavored macaroons + 4 pieces of artisan chocolate - I swear I’m not obese… yet LOL

**Face reading** I’m really into physiognomy, I’ve learnt some stuff about body language as well, but face reading really fascinates me the most. When I meet people I get a rough idea of who they are and what they are like you need to use your intuition as well. For sure people change because our faces change… but really I could read books about this forever. When I’m bored to tears (specially if I’m on this 1 hour bus ride), I would analyze people’s faces and see what they are like, it really keeps me busy LOL

Last but not least. **Keeping a journal** keeps you going.

It’s really good to have a personal diary. Mae West once told “_Keep a diary, and someday it’ll keep you…_” sometimes I would have the most awesome day or the most horrible day but I would drop it down my diary. I would also drop down things that I see in my meditation - then check back on what it really meant. Scary, sometimes my meditations did tell me things that were spot on at other times I would have no idea but I would keep it anyways and then look back at it if I ever knew what it meant. It’s nice to keep memories of the good and bad. You smile at the good ones and remember what you’ve learnt from the bad ones.
