woo its 4-20!!! the one day where i decide to smoke. i used to be a big pothead but quit bout 2 yrs ago. ive done some crazyyy shit on 4-20. any stories yall have to share?
also ps. plz dont flame me/neg rep for postin about weed, its a bad habit and i quit lonog ago. however, old habits die hard so i smoke only once a year.
I used to smoke everyday for 5 years averaging about 5 blunts a day discounting cyphers. I gave it up about a year and a half ago, and don’t have a desire to smoke again - no, not even on 4-20. I don’t flame people who smoke, because everybody handles it differently. I just so happened to be one of those people who are better off living a sober lifestyle. My friend is on the top of his class, and he smokes everyday, albeit not as heavily as I did, but he is able to handle his shit, and quit whenever he needs to. Some people are just emotionally dependent on it.
Anyways, that’s my view on weed. I don’t really consider it to be a bad thing, but like everything else, it needs to be used in moderation.
According to Steven Hager, editor of High Times, the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos. The term 420 was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. “Waldo Steve,” a member of the group who now owns a business in San Francisco, says the Waldos would salute each other in the school hallway and say “420 Louis!” The term was one of many invented by the group, but it was the one that caught on.
420 is celebrated and noted by time (4:20 a.m. or p.m.), date (April 20th), or in any other instance (e.g. State Route 420). April 20th at 4:20 is marked by annual events in Mount Tamalpais, CA (an informal gathering); Marin Conty, CA (the 420 Hemp Fest); Ann Arbor, MI (the Hash Bash); and Washington, D.C. (buildup towards the July 4th Smoke-In). The widespread popularity of 4/20 celebrations in the U.S. has brought about calls advocating for the reform of American marijuana laws. The 420 Campaign urges individuals to become involved in the political process and the drug policy reform movement. Specifically the Campaign calls for leveraging “April 20th as a focal point every year to concentrate pressure on Congress to legalize marijuana.”
that is also what i have heard. it actually started out as a time and evolved into the day we know of it. also people try to push hardes on congress to legalize pot on 4-20
wow… you learn something new and useless every day
personally, I only recently learned some different thoughts on just where 4-20 came from… but we’ve been making up and using various variationzz for years
“The 4:20” is the train we caught from school every day (eg "ay, catch you 4:20 brother") “20:4’s” is the term we used for our little group of back-of-the-train-potheads, which has caused a bit of a stirr lately, because there are a few gangs around here with similar names that… well, you just dont fuck with (26’s, 27’s, and 28’s, all seperate, all dodgy as fuck! 26 = murder, 27 = rape, etc) “going 4:20” = doing nothing about something.
eg… in a situation where a sober person might go crazy, a stoned person “going 4:20” prefers not to fight, and just keeps asking where his lighter went…
