Is there any trace of androstenone at all contained in the Mens version of Instant Shine?
What’s the ratio of the mcg/spray dispensed from a To-Go bottle vs. a regular bottle? I’m guessing the To-Go dispenses a smaller amount, but how much smaller?
Even though there is Neroli (or other) scent mixed in with most of the pheromones produced by Androtics, I am assuming the rate of diffusion of the added scent is faster and will last less than say, androstenone. So when you apply 2 sprays of Turn Up The Heat, the scent of Neroli will eventually wear off at some point, leaving you with androstenone only. Is this a correct assumption? If so, how do you suggest compensating for the gap in between where the added scent has worn off and the androstenone remains?
I’ve noticed that most of you like to mix various pheromones together, usually a few sprays of each. Since most of the core sprays have a Neroli scent, how is it that you guys have no problems going out smelling like you bathed in Neroli? Honestly, just 2 sprays of anything with Neroli scent makes me smell like I am a walking Neroli-bomb. Is it just me? And if MHarris happens to read this thread - is it possible to exchange my unused or used bottles for totally unscented because this Neroli is just too much, and usually also difficult to find a cologne that goes well with such a fruity scent.
Why does it seem like when I first spray Instant Openness x2, that people actually get nervous? Just a few hours ago I sprayed 4 sprays onto my belt and walked into a room of people. They actually all crossed their arms and the women seemed to look at me as if I was wearing androstenone. I left the room, took off my belt, and came back and everyone was friend/social as normal. Is there something I should know about high doses of Instant Openness - and also, what exactly is the main pheromone ingredient in it?
There’s only one version of Instant Shine, and I don’t think it contains any 'none.
Neroli oil is a floral, not a fruity scent. It’s distilled from the flower of the bitter orange tree. The neroli scent in the Androtics products is, I believe, a synthetic recreation of that floral scent and lasts much longer than real neroli oil. I have not noticed the neroli/musk scent completely wearing off before the pheromone scent does, at least not to any great degree. The scent is strong for the first 5 to 10 minutes, then becomes a background scent, no stronger than your shampoo or shower gel is after that amount of time. You can certainly add a cover scent if you want to, though - the neroli/musk is not strong enough to clash with your fragrance. If you get the neroli/musk on fabric, though, it will persist longer than it does on skin. It’s meant for skin. When you put it on your belt, that may have produced a different smell than it would have on human skin. Tacitus puts pheromones on leather belts with great results; maybe he can speak to your question.
If I recall correctly, Instant Openness is 90% alpha androstenol and 10% beta androstenol. Instant Honesty has the opposite ratio.
About mcg/spray:
To-Go: 5 ml divided by 40 sprays = 0.125 ml per spray.
Regular size: 30 ml divided by 200 sprays = 0.15 ml per spray
Since the juice is the same in both bottle sizes (per the store), and the regular bottles have 0.15 mcg of pheromones per 0.15 ml spray, the To-Go bottles would have 0.125 mcg per 0.125 ml spray.
I have not noticed anyone getting nervous in response to any of the pheromones from Androtics, but I usually apply at least a couple minutes before I encounter anyone. If you run into someone before that, they might even smell the alcohol, or the neroli/musk scent might be strong enough to get their attention.
It’s not just a smaller volume, but it has a lesser spray pattern compared to the full size.
Think of it like spray paint. The big bottles give you a much wider and finder layer of pheromonal “paint”, where the little ones are more concentrated in a less ideal pattern.
To maximize diffusion with the little To Go size bottles, manually spread the liquid to cover as much warm skin as possible.
With Turn Up The Heat, yes the androstenone can outlast the Neroli on some people’s skin (everyone’s skin chemistry is different), because androstenone is extremely tenacious. Obvious amounts can last a few days. (yes, some fragrance components have been shown to last up to a month, but not at levels that are obvious)
With most other products, no. The Neroli will act as an effective “cover” (or making agent) on almost everything.
Start to learn to smell androstenone. When you can smell it, you’ll notice if there will be an issue. If there is, simply cover it with a cologne or essential oil blend you like. You could also wash it off.
While it’s not just you, the great majority of people don’t mind. We chose the most refined citrus related fragrance we could, because of how well they cover malodors (you wouldn’t want to smell some pheromones), and how inoffensive they are to most noses.
The other elements of the blend that help the pheromones to be transmitted are also nicely covered by the Neroli. All in all, it’s fairly stealth.
Now that’s not to say that you aren’t particularly sensitive to one or more of the fragrance molecules used. Some people are. If you read reviews of any fragrance at a place like basenotes.net, you’ll see how differently people all describe the very same fragrance. Even for the most beloved fragrances, there are detractors who insist it smells nothing like other people say. Our olfactory system is complex, and so are our unique body chemistries. You may be sensitive in ways the great majority of people are not.
Yes, you sure can. Not a problem. However, we cannot extend the guarantee to the unfragranced version, as it would be an expert level product. (I say unfragranced to point out that pheromones themselves still have a scent, therefore the phrase “unscented” is something of a misnomer) It’s sort of like manual vs. automatic in a car. To make the best use of a nonfragranced product, you should know what you’re doing (or be willing to learn.)
If that’s okay with you, please call us at 800-671-6464 to make the proper arrangements.
Androstenol
Crossing of the arms doesn’t necessarily mean as much as the sea of body language books makes out. I cross my arms when my mind is open. Other clues will be necessary.
That said, if it’s a fresh application, even androstenol will produce some unusual responses. When you overload a circuit, sparks fly.
Is that the case? I was under the impression that the for-real essential oil of neroli ($195 per ounce, steam extraction, Tunisian neroli) was in play. (Versus the $35 per quart fragrance oil synthetic. :o)
O really? Thats really good… for me. I was wondering how to make a stronger Neroli cologne or Eau de Toillete. Will it last longer if I make it or will it probably last the same amount of time?
i strongly suspect the reaction you are getting that appears to be androstenone related IS probably that- you may have build-up or do not remember having it on clothing or outer-wear that you have. i remember trying to figure out why i was experiencing the same thing but i was not wearing it, and i suddenly remembered wearing The Edge while wearing a jacket and then just not oticing it still being there. things come into play with pheromones that we dont always remember.
As for the smaller spray pattern of the To Go size: I actually prefer it. Hits better the specific spot I’m aiming, and as it is a smaller volume I can hit more varied wider-spaced spots on me. The regular size bottle’s wider and more generous pattern is good for the stuff I’d use fot “base” applications like IShine. I’d reather aim the more specialized pheromones in a narrower area for better control of targeting. eg There are times when I would love to encourage one target with IOpen, but minimize the exposure to another nearby companion cuz she already talks too darn much! I can apply IO to only one side of my bod and make sure I arrange myself so the one I want to get the full dose is on that side.
Yes, I have experienced the same. Even 1 spray smells very strong to me. However, it’s not an unpleasant scent, and it fades quickly (or my nose gets used to it), so it’s not really a problem. Still, I have never applied more than 2 sprays at once. When I get more used to it, I might risk it and try 3 sprays someday.
I suppose you and I are more sensitive to smell than average males (whom the scent manufacturers have in mind when designing their products). I, for instance, can’t use any Realm products as the scent is killing me, no matter how small the dose. For the others, it seems to be no problem.
I sometimes encounter men who are so heavily scented that it almost suffocates me. What puzzles me is how can women stand it – from what I understand, they have generally a much better sense of smell than men.
First – Androtics will sell you a cologne strength Neroli fragrance, with or without pheros. It’s an option on most of the core products, I think. If you don’t find it, call Jasmin on the 800 line and ask her – she will set it up for you.
Second – Neroli seems to be one of those scents that rapidly desensitizes people to the presence of the scent. In other words, after a few sniffs, you rapidly begin to “filter out” the scent from awareness.
Only a distinct change in intensity level brings the scent back to awareness. (Some people have a total loss of sense of smell (called general anosmia, which can be terribly debilitating) others have the inability to smell certain scents (specific anosmia.) Hyposmia is a condition where there is reduced ability to smell, either general or specific.
So I’d say that Neroli appears to create a “temporary, situational, specific hyposmia” for some people.
Last – You might still want to “roll your own.” The source I use for fragrance reagants is Snowdrift.com They sell essential neroli oil, as well as a “five folded orange oil” (big cost difference) and they sell both perfumer’s alcohol and formulator’s alcohol … you’d want formulator’s alcohol if you’re going to dilute with water, perfumer’s alcohol if your fragrance is alcohol only.
A recipe table from Snowdrift is attached as an image.
To answer a question of “Is there a cologne that smells similar to Neroli”, in my opinion, the Neroli scent smells an aweful lot like one of my favorite man’s colognes “Live Jazz” by YSL (light citrus, but NOT fruity). Also, I find that even though Neroli is pretty strong when first applied, it dissipates rather quickly. I wonder if anyone else noticed the similarity to Live Jazz or is it just me?
The aquatic/coniferous scent cover Androtics uses is skanky on ME
For some reason the fragrance, not the light neroli, but the Cool Water style cologne in some of the MX samples i’ve received is wildly off base for my personal style. Neroli isn’t interesting although realtively harmless, nosewise. I’d infintely prefer a product with nothing, so I can assess the intrinsic odor level and put my own choice of goodies on top. If the neroli gives controlled diffusion, well OK, gusess we can live with that… but that Coll Water stuff, yow !
So far I haven’t been all that impressed by Cool Water. And some of my “test subjects” aren’t impressed either (I have a small sampler bottle of CW). Different strokes…
I’m looking forward to the Holiday sampler pack, to compare all of the scents side by side. So far, I can say that the Akuto scent brings back some very strongly negative memories; it’s not for me at all. The scent in MX200 is a 9.5/10 for me, though, (in terms of appeal.)
I understand that the scent package impacts diffusion and sillage, but feeling good about the scent (or, at least not feeling bad) is more important to me.
Thanks everyone. I definitely think you’re right, Carrie, about the possible build-up on my belt. I’m going to PM tacitus about the belt thing to get some ideas.
I’ve just been going through like an ‘androstenone nightmare’ since drifting off of LS. I said this in another post, and I’ll say it again, those guys are androstenone-crazy. I say that because even when I still visit, they seem to find it okay to wear androstenone during the day. Oh well, I’ve learnt my lesson.
By the way, if anyone is wondering, another seemingly great way to get rid of build-up on clothes, if Oxi-clean isn’t doing the job, also put some Nioxin shampoo in your laundry load. It works great. Although, some of my clothes were so soaked in androstenone, I had to fill my tub with hot water, Nioxin shampoo, Oxi-clean, and soak my clothes in that solution for a day or two, and then washed it all.
Overall, it’s just been a pain in the ass, getting this stuff off my clothes. I’ve become very sensitive to the smell. I even tossed a bunch of under shirts, and my ipod earbuds because I just couldn’t get the androstenone off.
The Neroli scent I’m getting used to. You guys are right, it diffuses rather quickly, and it’s only really strong in the beginning. I think the fact that I’m having such great results with the Instant Openness lately makes me not want to go through the trouble of returning and getting completely unscented. I’m going to check out that site you listed Mark, for the extra Neroli. It’s actually a pleasant smell, but for some reason the other day I had a headache and thought it was the Neroli. But it wasn’t, I was sort of sick, and tired, so I posted a bit out of frustration. Sorry if it came off a little angry.
The to-go’s I haven’t used much because I’ve just been staying away from androstenone. But I just wanted to know because I will use my Instant Jerk to-go maybe a week or two from now and I was curious about the amount, whether I would be able to do 2 sprays of the to-go or just stick with one. I think 1 should do it. I’ll be applying on my clothes so that I can just toss the shirt, and not deal with as much build-up problems hopefully.
I totally agree with you on the neroli-bomb . Could MHarris think about mixing it with some popular brands of cologne or parfum? So that our pheros are “professionally disguised”..!!! I’m not saying that neroli scent is
not professional, its a very expensive essential oil, next to rose!
Or, we hv an option to buy unscented pheros and then be able to mix it with our favorite scent…
Hello Kid you do have some options if you go to the main store page and look at “custom additions” You will see unscented and some other options like Akuto and Game.
You will have to do a search on those to to get a description of the scent.
Hopefully they will be expanding that list later on.
The test products generally come in neroli first because they what the diffusion to be strong and neroli is highly diffusive. Plus neroli mixes well with other scents.
Tisha is right. There is an option for unscented. Also other scents which Androtics have created..
There’s been good comments about the women’s scent packets.. I’m not sure about the men’s though. They don’t seem to be that particular about the custom scents I reckon.
Neroli smells really good though!
Btw, why would men put pheromones on belts instead of clothes? Easy removal?
