I escaped a visit to the drunk tank last night. Fast talking, and I believe a dose of A314 before heading out that night saved my ass. It was after a concert and I was just heading home with my brother.
We were going to catch a bus in the shitty part of town. For whatever dumb reason I decided to lift this traffic cone (which measured a few feet tall) and take it across the street with me. Undercover cop pulls over and tells us to stop.
COP:“It isn’t enough that I deal with fuckin maggots all day, you gotta come along and fuck around like that? How would you like to spend a few hours in the drunk tank? What’s a matter!? Don’t speak English or something?”
Me:“I’m quite sorry sir. I don’t appreciate the vulgarities.”
At this point he seemed confused.
COP:" Don’t appreciate the vulgarities… Have you been drinking tonight?"
Me:“I had a few drinks sir. I’m feeling relatively sober, we’re just in the process of heading home.”
COP:“Put it back and I’ll let you leave.”
I put it back and the cop took off. My brother was in amazement as to how I was able to talk my way out of it. He told me how lucky I was. Boy I am.
Luckily I was able to remain calm and rational enough to remind the hardened cop that he was human. I guess he was expecting me to be some unruly belligerent prick, as opposed to articulated and polite.
Congratulations on a very well executed pattern interrupt. You’re right, he was expecting an argument, and was even fishing for one. You pulled him right out of that mode and temporarily fried his circuits. I’ll even go so far as to say this was 100% the reason he let you go.
Are you into NLP or covert hypnosis by any chance? If not, you should look into it. Sounds like you’re a natural.
Are all the police that wankerish in the US? Jeez a cop wouldn’t dare speak to anyone that way in NZ, a lot of people don’t fear the police here, and considering most don’t carry any tasers or anything and only batons they have to protect their neck.
yeah no doubt cops are like that in US, very strict, but that is the job, the training involves dehumanization though things like 'mones and being polite are good at getting on their good side.
I DL’ed Paul McKenna’s confidence cd off Torrent. Just to see what a NLP cd is like. I listened to it about 4 times but stopped, because I started to feel too full of myself. I also have an interest in voice over and studying vocal patterns. NLP also has some creepy parallels to Enochian magick.
I was wondering about the opposite of this thread’s topic and came across it. I wonder if law enforcement could use pheromones (especially A314) for going on the job. Maybe people wouldn’t mouth off as much.
cops hate punks. they have to deal with societies worst everyday and it gets to them. you talked very respectfully and showed him that you weren’t a punk.
