I have mentioned the work of Lauren S. Henry before, in this post and this post. She is a Color/Design Expert who specialises in work for children with Autism and other special needs–she uses a wide variety of techniques to elicit desired psychological responses through strategic environmental design.
A.J. Paron-Wildes is another designer whose passion is designing spaces for Autistic children and others with sensory issues to ensure environments are correctly designed with their needs in mind…
Paron-Wildes, whose son Devin was diagnosed with Autism at age 3, founded a non-profit organization called BEAT (Biological Education for Autism Treatments). This is an on-line group of over 500 Minnesota families helps others parents understand the complex medical treatments and issues for their children. Here is a link to a picture of Paron-Wildes and her son at a fundraiser for Autism programs, the Fraser Annual Benefit: April 2008 Scene | Minnesota Monthly
