One nonprofit that was mentioned in a recent post is the Best Day Foundation. This organisation helps children with special needs (including Autism Spectrum Disorders) build confidence and self-esteem through safe, fun, adventure activities like surfing, bodyboarding, kayaking, snow sports, and more. Eight-year-old Addison …of Union Township is mildly autistic and suffers from a delayed-speech disability.
But Addison had no trouble expressing his feelings about Sunday’s outing on the beach at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch, where he and 38 other special-needs children got to ride the waves on boogie boards, surfboards and kayaks.
“It was the best day ever,” Addison said. “Awesome” and “excellent” he said of his experiences on a surfboard and a kayak.
