Anyone wears any Amouage with Andriotics ?
Wore yesterday Gold alone
Today without taking a shower wore DIA(1 spray chest,and 2 on neck-side) and 3 sprays on chest-tummy Turn Up the heat.
I smell like a dear hunter .Its pretty cool…havent gor out of my house today and can smell in every room ,I have been to this deer musk DR Smell Good suggests is in Amouage.
They are pretty cool

I’m certain that real musk is not used in Amouage anymore. It’s hard to get for larger perfume houses in large enough quantities to justify the trouble. Not to mention that trade in animal musks is regulated under international treaties.
This website sells some Arab/Indian perfumes, some of which are listed as containing deer musk. Note it’s not cheap for the real thing Dhen Al Oudh/Agarwood/Attars:Misk / Musks. Musk is traditional in alot of Arab/Indian perfumery but even now days these companies often use artificial musks, or dilute the real musk with synthetics.
If you like the intensity of musk you should definitely check out oud. Montale’s Black Aoud (Westernized take on a traditional oud attar - I’ve tried a sampler vial, very good), or the aformentioned Agarscents website has more traditional oud attars, such as Oud Maliki Attar (Oud Attar of Kings) which is very good but quite different (it’s somewhat medicinal and sweet smelling and has a little bit of rose- and quite powerful, you only wear a very small amount- their eBay site listed it as unisex). Mukhallat al-Emir (Emir’s mixture) is also good and is very dry, sharp, and more powdery smelling than sweet.
If you like musk frags I’d also recommend “Luck You for Men” by Elizabeth Arden. It’s a somewhat fresh, but it also has a musky/woody base. It also costs very little. The musk is of course artificial but it’s very well done. You can also buy musk fragrance oil from Aroma Isles Musk Fragrance Oil | Musk Room Spray | by Aroma Isle , and you can wear this on its own, just pour it into a dropper bottle or a roll-on. This website also sells very good deer musk or beaver musk recreations Dilutions of Master Level Blends - Easier to Use, but some of them have to be diluted into perfumer’s alcohol or jojoba oil first since they are so powerful.
I just thought I’d update this… I got hold of the synthetic musks. They all smell good, except, as I noted in my journal, civet cat smells foul. The castoreum, animalid/deer, and auronone are all pleasant smelling, though. The civet smells like crap, literally, and it’s got a heavy, farty/rotting, sickly sweet smell/feel to it. In low amounts it’s suppossed to be vaguely floral, like jasmine, but you need super-low concentrations, about 1% percent. It’s just too hard to work with unless you are working in very large batches.
Next day I checked out the fragrance I tried making with civet cat… and wow, it actually turned out OK. The fart smell is still there, faintly, in the tube when I sniff it, but when I wear it on my skin it smells like jasmine. Interesting… I think this confirms what I read about indoles- in high amounts they smell disgusting, but in low amounts they smell pleasant. Still, I think jasmine itself would be an easier-to-work-with source for indole smells than civet- if nothing else it’s not nauseating disgusting like civet and doesn’t require as much dilution.
