I tried to indroduce a friend of mine to my findings on pheromones and effect. He is a very sceptic person who demands scientific documentation from legitimate sources for anything he doubts. He drives me up the wall at times. He can talk circles around almost anybody and make his point valid whether he is right or wrong. On top of this he’s condecending at times.
Where am I going with this? I looked up scientific documents with from legitimate sources (including Ebsco host, one of IU’s and Purdues online research databases.)
Many of them said that androstenone was not a pheromone, but rather a sent that is “specific anosmia” that one can aquire the capability to smell with repeat exposure. It was also stated in an Ebsco artical Sexual differentiation in sensitivity to male
body odor that the effects are consistantly negative. The only positive statement that would help out of the 11 pages of this journal are as follows:
This was obviously taken very loosely as its vague and mostly dismissed due to it beeing speculation, with no data.
His final argument is that these pheromones are used by people with a pre disposition to want them to work, therefore they do.
Here is my research. If anybody has any contradictory research from legit sources i’d love to rub them in his face
Thanks for the post first of all. This information will be most helpful.
I agree that personal experiences can be more effective than all the science in the world. If the scientist has false or incomplete data or theory how can you make accurate findings.
He definitely won’t try them. He actually compared using sexually oriented pheromones to rape. (he’s going to be a Jag Lawyer in the future. I fear for his opposition)
That’s a pretty far stretch IMO. I just have to at least show him they aren’t a scam after all the trashing he did on pheromones. My buddy is normally not this ignorant so I feel compelled to take him down a notch.
BTW excuse the spelling mistakes in the prior posts. I neglect to proof read at times, and I felt pretty stupid about spelling pheromone wrong in the title. lol
