True, you can always get hit by a bus. Then there are those who believe there is a world in the clouds you go to after death. Those people will pass on immortality because they want to get to “Heaven” or “Valhalla” or “Nirvana” or what ever they call it.
We are getting so close to the singularity you can feel it… I fully expect to live to see the beginning of the end of humanity as it currently exists. Personally I’m pretty excited about the future and transhumanity

Think augmentation at the base of the brain. Wireless nano transmitter communicating with a globally centralized neural network structure that consists of every other human on earth. Complete loss of freewill as thought algorithms are fed into your brain. Not that you will even care, as you’ve become truly automated.
Omniscient will the networks rulers become. Gods physically manifested upon earth.
