Could we just get a more active moderator?

I don’t think that will help. I once applied for a job moderating forums, and it appears that, in a nutshell, a moderator polices the forums removing any posts that go against a Code of Conduct.

This CoC usually bans any post that violates commonly accepted rules, such as flaming other members, posts that discriminate against or incite hatred towards a “minority” group, posts that don’t fit into the board subject matter and so on.

New members asking questions wouldn’t fall foul of that, and so a moderator would be idle most of the time. But if I was paid to repeat the same answers to questions over and over again, it would be a lot more tolerable.

As little as possible! The whiteboards are all ruined by idiots with permanent markers. And no reason to use Powerpoint in music labs and rehearsals. We’re totally hands on.

Well you guys could quit complaining and setup a “pro mone” user forum. A member test could be used to weed out the deadbeats. You could have degrees or ranks and allow increased access with each proficiency exam. Noobs would be limited to search functions only or allowed to post only in a noob forum. You’ll also need paid membership or corporate sponsorship to cover costs. I’ve seen these types of forums for photo and music pros, so it could work.

changazn - love that text figure! -> ¯_(°0)/¯

(I’ve been tempted to use my fave “peeping cat” figure in my sig… >^..^< )

Second

Gegogi - I have been bordering on asking if the Androtics forum board can get an “advanced” section like you describe similar to the “private” A314 section. That section is supposedly already limited to those who have purchased A314 so having an area that requires some sort of “membership requirement,” eg being an “advanced user,” is not something that would be new or considered out of line so to speak with the overall presentation of this forum.

Just my thoughts.

Hmm, I’ve not been to the A314 forum. Somehow the thought of discussing A314 only isn’t very enticing (kinda boring product anyway). The title won’t do jack diddle as far as keeping out noob questions.

what about a read-only section that only “advanced” users can post to? i only have MX102, not A314, but i would like to see the A314 section even if i cant post to it.

if you want to post to the advanced section you need someone to sponsor you in.

maybe admission to the advanced section could happen when you get rep of 100?

That sounds like a good idea.. wonder what others think ..

I just have a quick scan through for any interesting topics nowadays and going through the recent posts of some of the more interesting posters to find anything of use.

As it is, it gets kinda boring hearing about hits with Ammo, TUTH, IShine, IO, IH, CTTM-M2, Spaceland, TAH, TAL, etc and the same newbie questions asked over and over…

For what its worth I’d like to see more people posting results on putatives. That could be a way to keep the forum ‘alive’ - discovering facets of new molecules and perhaps even mixes (MXs). Lets face it what made this place such a cool place (and still does) was new product offerings and new putatives to play with…

Of course there is plenty to learn from many of the forum members on matters apart from mones as well. I do think though that some kind of more in-depth testing of putatives and posting of results would make the forum a more interesting, ‘happening’ place for the more experienced users at the least.

An advanced forum section may be a good idea as well.

That was my point a few post back … it gets boring hearing the same questions and knowing that no one is using the SEARCH function, no one wants to read, and no one understanding that no matter how many questions you ask, pretty much, you’re only going to get the answers by testing.

If I recall there is a web site/thing that I think is called “helium” which is a bit like Wikipedia, but only those who have contributed an article can edit/post.

Could we add a “Bury thread” function? We could use rep power somewhere in that.

im with visionary. putative testing and reporting is exciting. but its good to see empirical hit reports too. there are maybe 15 people here who seem to do all the research. maybe we need a research section you cant get into unless you have 100 rep points (note that im not even close and i still think its a good idea) and test at least one putative or mix before you can post. everyone should be able to read it though.

and a suggested format for posting results would be good too.
