Hey All,
As far as demographics are concerned I’m a Caucasian/Mediterranean male in my early 30s. I’m short and balding but otherwise fairly healthy and in good physical shape. I can do 15 pullups, bench 250 lbs, etc. My mile time could still use some work, but that’s an old story.
I’d describe myself as a socially competent introvert. I know how to be likable when needed and enjoy being with people,
but parties wear me out more quickly than they do other people. I don’t really enjoy the ‘self effects’ from the social mixes, and I tend to be more tired at the end of the day when I wear one.
I found the pheromone community fairly recently and I’ve been doing what research I can on the topic.
I’ve purchased and tried Ammo (From Androtics) and Glace (From Alpha Dream). I also got a test vial of some new formulation of Instant Shine that I tried out. So far, the results from these things have been stronger than I expected. Ammo seems to be capable of eliciting very negative reactions (agressiveness and a worsening of PMS) but also
act as a genuine, strong aphrodisaic in the appropriate circumstances, which surprised me. My wife, who typically has no libido, was literally unbuttoning my shirt in front of guests.
The social mixes (Glace and IS) are far more subtle and I can’t notice a huge effect till I’ve used them around people for several days. But since I’ve started using them I’ve had several people
mention that I was likable, they felt like they knew me for longer than they had, etc. It may be that I’m more likely to hang out with introverts, and the social mixes have a stronger effect on extroverts. I’m going to give some of the social mixes to my wife to use, to see what kinds of reactions she gets. She tends to be pretty unbiased.
On that topic, is “Instant Shine for women different than Instant Shine for men? I was hoping to be able to share a bottle…”
But that wasn’t clear from the ad copy.
I’m interested in both learning to use pheromones in a utilitarian fashion and also understanding them from the perspective of game theory/Chemistry/evolutionary psychology.
I’m more than happy to wade through technical information, and I tend to come to trust things by understanding the logic and mechanisms behind how they work, as opposed to marketing hype. I’m that
10% of the population which focuses on “how things work” that is consistently ignored by advertisers. I actually read ingredient labels of the stuff I eat and use. Despite all this and my undergrad degree in Biotech, I admit that I have serious trouble keeping track of the difference between androstadienone, androstenone and androstanone (etc.)
But with a little persistance I think I have the background to parse whatever anyone can throw at me.
I probably have fewer pheromones wafting from me than evolution intended, both as a person who bathes on a daily basis and also as a vegetarian. I’ve even heard of other vegetarians talking about how animals seemed to view them as less of a threat.
It makes sense that since many known pheromones seem to be produced from cholesterol, certain diets might influence people’s pheromone profiles.
But this seems easy enough to fix, and sometimes the best canvas is a blank slate, right?
I easily OD on all the stuff from Androtics, with a full spray of anything typically being too much for me for 20 minutes or so after application, so I’m reducing my dosage.
The Glace seems to be much more diluted, and I don’t really OD even on 6 sprays. So I guess the Androtics stuff is more concentrated, which is both good and bad. I still need to see if the Glace lasts longer (as would be expected from a more dilute silicone based solution.)
Of course, there are some downsides to using silicone oil, too.
This seems like a fun opportunity to experiment with how inhaling different biologically active molecules affect people.
In any case, that’s where I’m at. Best to you all.
