Books for Pheromonolgists

Books for Pheromonologists

For the big picture of animal behavior and how it evolved, there is not a better introduction than:

The book is not an easy read but should be decipherable to anyone with some basic science training and a sense of commitment. The chapter on animal communications directly relate to pheromones.

This one digs deeper into brain structure using new imaging techniques. We a little thought, I suspect one could make links between pheromone responses and the structures within the brain that are activated by them. I also expect that astrology and sun signs might be explained but that’s a different story:

This one says a lot about hormones and their effects on libido, mate bonding, gender. I especially appreciated the info on how a woman’s hormones change over the 20s, 30, and 40s. The author goes on a bit too much about a commercial estrogen/methyltestosterone pill but she is an MD so that’s her main tool.

Anyone have favorites they’d like to add?

Somehow the links to Amazon don’t show. Here’s the list in longhand:

“Sociobiology” by E. O. Wilson

“The Alchemy of Love and Lust” by Theresa Crenshaw

“Sperm Wars” by Robin Baker

“Sex on the Brain” by Daniel Amen

I started reading “Sex On The Brain,” I need to finish it. Great suggestions.

Sorry but I forgot one of the most important books of all, “Sperm Wars” by Robin Baker. This is a gotta read for everyone, men and women alike. If you only read ONE book, this is it.

thanks for sharing

Would you say the Alchemy of Love and Lust is the better one for someone who wants a more medical/scientific slant to it? Or sex on the brain?

Whewww Great ideal Whitehall, I love books. I buy them faster then I can read them though LOL

I have sex and the brain and Alchemy of love and lust. I have to read the last one still.

Maybe if enough people get them we can have sort of a little book club here in the lounge and discuss ehat we read. That will be fun

This forum is so fun, I love you guys

Oh alright… I am wearing Ishine… :stuck_out_tongue: so what, I would love ya anyways

Ms. Xiploid,

“Alchemy” is definitely the one to read for a medical slant. One of the major points is declining female libido but includes other female ailments.

BTW, it seems the links I originally put in for Amazon have disappeared. They had cover photos too. Maybe that’s against forum policy? I thought they were helpful.

Anyone gotten into “Why We Love” yet?

Looks like a broad introduction to the topic and an easy read.
