following tacitus’s post on the emwave personal stress monitor, I took a look at the pages of the heartmath.org site and came across the following…

AHA! This would explain a lot of what I have been noticing in recent months… (and others - incl Steveo, Carrie, MarkL and tacitus - have remarked on). If true, this must surely be an important part in understanding social dynamics ie pheromones are not the only channel for subcommunicating information.

I’m going to buy the e-book so may have more to report later.

Energetic Interactions Between People
Human energetics research conducted at the HeartMath Research Center demonstrates that the electromagnetic fields generated by the heart, which extend a number of feet external to the body, contain information that is modulated by one’s emotional state. Further, this research reveals that an individual’s cardiac field can be detected by other people in proximity. This is among the first scientific research to show that energetic interactions between people can be measured and that these interactions can produce physiological effects. Interesting. The heart without question has hormonal influences on the rest of the body, and almost certainly pheromonal influences outside the body. The heart is also influenced by hormones secreted by other organs. I’m willing to bet that the “cardiac field” someone else can sense is pheromonal rather than electromagnetic.

After you read the materials please let us know if they controlled any experiments for pheromonal influence (for instance by preventing air circulation between the two subjects.)

Also the electromagnetic effect, if it exists should be subject to electromagnetic interference. This should be easy to test. If they see communication results and then “jam” the hypothetical electromagnetic transmission and the effect goes away, that’s pretty strong evidence. I doubt that you will find that type of experiment in their materials though.

On further digging, I am not so sure about the credibility of the organisation.
