I just received my bottle of EOW from LS. I do not have any “perfumers alcohol,” but I do have a jug of Everclear. (It’s the 95% grain alcohol version that’s illegal in some states.) I want a “social proof” mix and I really do not care if it is scented or not.
Eventually, I’d like to get some essential oil to mix with the EOW. So I just need a quick and easy way to fill the gap until I can get my paws on the right mixing supplies.
Should I use the booze?
You should click on the mixing supplies link and buy a 30mL bottle of perfumer’s alcohol.
Even though its 95% alcohol, you dont know what the other 5 percent is. The unknown stuff could easily destroy the mones or stop them from working properly.

Tried that. All I see under mixing supplies is empty bottles.
The other 5% is moisture, the same as in all alcohols.
Click the empty 30mL bottle link and you have an option to get it with perfumer’s alcohol. You can even choose what scent you want.
It’s not the best option certainly, but I have used exactly that with EOW. I gave my friend Sarah some of my fresh EOW (1.5 mL of it) and then cut it in half with everclear and made it 3 mL for her to be able to more easily get it out of the dropper bottle. Better use it quick, though… both alcohol and EOW melt rubber.
If I had one of my bottles of PA (I have a few) I’d have used that… but I was 2 hours drive away. If you can get it, PA is a better choice. They have it. Go to “Mixign Supplies”, empty 30 mL bottle, and then choose Perfumer’s alcohol from the drop down list labeled dilutent.
A couple sprays of Everclear and EOW = proof of drinking binge and visit to cathouse. I’d wanna cover that with cologne or mix in some nice EOs (wood and spice EOs are nice).
And, yes, the dropper top on the EOW bottle melts after a month, so transfer it to a better bottle or change the cap.

I couldn’t find atomizers in the little town that I live in, so I bought a 1oz/29mL spray bottle of “Bod Man” at the dollar store. Dumped it out. Rinsed bottle and sprayer with rubbing alcohol. Filled most of the way up with Cool Water by Davidoff and added 2 drops EOW.
I went with 1 spray since the bottle is a little smaller and I only filled it 95% or so.
Guess I’ll save the booze for the ice cubes.

Everclear WILL work, it’s used in perfume making a lot of the times since in some cases PA is hard to come by. However, Everclear should be fine. If it’s good enough to cut EOs it’s good enough to cut EOW. The higher the proof the better.
Have you tried it? How long does it last with EOW?
I would almost prefer Everclear since it is unscented. “Cool Water” will not always be my preferred scent.
I haven’t tried it since I can’t get it here in California which sucks 'cause I wanted some to cut oil scents from thecommonscents.com to turn them into cologne. I tried Vodka, but that wasn’t strong enough since the oil would separate from the alcohol and sink to the bottom.
Everclear is pure grain alcohol, so it has no taste or smell; it doesn’t smell like whiskey.
My bottle came with a cap and a dropper. I rinsed the dropper with rubbing alcohol and dried it when I finished. I was also careful not to fill the dropper up to the rubber part. I put the cap (not the dropper) back on for storage.
Do you think mine will still melt?
Don’t know, I have never owned EOW. Just a sample someone on here sent me in a little vial.
Both EOW and alcohol (rubbing or otherwise) will eventually destroy rubber. Rinsing it with alcohol won’t help. But leaving the rubber in contact with either is what will make it melt quickly. Rinse it with water, not alcohol.
Also, for social proofing effects, you’ll get the best results from 2 sprays of the 1:180 dilution you made.
