I started golfing last spring… I’m no good LOL! I, embarassingly enough, only went twice last year. I was hooked my 1st time out… had a lot of fun. Up until last night - the “itch” to go golfing was barable… I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I’M GOING NUTS!!! LOL!
I decided last night to just spend the money and get myself a somewhat decent set of clubs. I was using my friends set of callaway X14’s and loved em… I knew right then - i couldn’t goo out and buy a $150 set and be happy with them. Especially after my friend had a set like that and in his 2nd year with them - the club head flew off LOL!
Anyways… i thought i’d share my purchase with you guys. I’m also getting some Plaid pants and a derby - no-one wants to golf with me if I wear them but OH WELL! lololol
Haz, get a golf pro to check your swing, particularly your swing speed, most muscular guys have a fast swing which can overflex the shaft and cause a loss of accuracy. I would say come and have a round with me but there’s a large water feature in the way
I saw a golf pro just for 10 minutes while looking at clubs and hitting into a simulator. He told me i’m actually not swinging hard enough because i’m trying too hard to make contact LOL! Once my clubs come in - i’m going to go to the range a few times and then try and get a lesson from a pro.
I LOVE the courses over there! I’ve been watching Colin Montgomery give lessons on TV lol… he loves playing out there by you. Ireland is a MUST on my list of places to travel… some real nice courses out there too.
For anyone interested - i’ll be going to South Carolina from march 12th-15th. I’ll be playing a few rounds to kick off my golf season
Yeh Winnipeg is more like 3 months of HOT, bright summer 1-2 months of dry in between, 1-2 months of wet in between, 2 months of cold and snowy and 2 months of “Oh look, there isn’t a cloud in the sky today… damn that means it’s so mind numbingly cold out that clouds can’t exist”
New Jersey doesn’t have a great season either… march is extremilly unpredictable… it could be 75 degrees and sunny… or we could get 3 feet of snow… literally. April is almost always rainy… all damn month. May is nice and june is ok… it starts to get hot. July and august is blisteringly hot… september is nice and october CAN be nice but it’s unpredictable with the temps. November-February sucks… period.
Sounds like you need a new pro, everyone I have ever used trys to get you to slow donw and work on the swing arc and the contact. I play with some scrach golfers that can whack the crap out of the ball and I am comming along with a 3/4 swing and they only out drive me by 30 to 40 yards, big deal. The key is getting on the green with the same strokes as the other guys. Spend your money on your putting coach.
