Okay, I’ll set the stage:
A couple of months ago, I had to take one of my cats to the vet. I tried a new vet in the area that I’d heard was cheaper than the ripoff artist I’d been going to. (yes, they were much cheaper and quality vets to boot, but I’m going off topic) Anyway, the entire office seems to be populated by women ranging from “very cute” to “wow”, and one VERY lucky college-age guy. The first time that I was there everyone was friendly, but not very talkative. Now, I normally am a very talkative person anyway, but busy office+sick animals+sick animal smell=understandably limited social interaction.
Today I took another cat in to the same office (found out he has asthma) and the same women were working. Before I went, I sprayed Instant Shine on my chest, both forearms and split a spray between the wrist (spray one then rubbed them together). Day was a breezy 80 degrees or so.
This time, both receptionists were extremely chatty, even though the office was as busy as before. I didn’t even have to wait for the vet, even though I showed up 15 minutes early. The nurse that showed me into the exam room stayed and gushed about how pretty my cat was (meanwhile said cat is rubbing against her legs and getting no attention), how good it was for me to have brought him in such a timely manner, and how glad she was that I had liked them so much on our previous visit that I decided to go to them this time. Meanwhile, there are three other people sitting in the waiting room. When the vet came in (a rather attractive 40ish woman), she not only talked for a long time, but she talked about things unrelated to animals quite a bit. She even went and got the other nurse just to show her my “beautiful cat”.
Now, to be clear, I am a married man and I was wearing my wedding band (never comes off). Also, none of the conversation was flirtatious, not even on a covert level. They just seemed to be more at ease with me and were happy to interact with me a lot more than before. It was definitely a confidence booster, and overall it was just fun to kick back and have a friendly conversation with so many people I’d never fully interacted with before. This is definitely something you’re going to want to try if you’re being dragged to a family gathering of the in-laws, a job interview or any other situation where conversation or outlook could be strained or difficult. It would also probably be good for shy people who have a hard time initiating conversations as it seemed like they sought ME out to have a conversation.
To reiterate, I used four sprays total, one mid/lower chest, one to each forearm (I’m still a slight bit allergic (headaches) if I spray it higher than upper chest), and one spray rubbed between the wrists. This seems to be my “sweet zone”, YRMV.
