Hello everyone! I’m a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Irvine. For a year and a half, I’ve been working really hard on a speed-dating/genetics study that examines (1) whether genetic-compatibility (via Major Histocompatibility genes) might play a role in whom we are attracted to, and also (2) whether birth control pills might reverse women’s genetically-based preferences in men. I thought you might be interested in this, as this genetically-based attraction is thought to occur through our preferences for certain body scents over others! Birth control pills have been found in some studies to reverse women’s preferences for males’ body scents.
