Germany: Stop Using Internet Explorer

In a stark warning, Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security told Web users that they should switch from Microsoft’s browser in order to protect their security. The announcement came after it was learned that recent attacks on Google’s systems were made possible through a flaw in Microsoft’s browser. Still, Microsoft criticized the warning, saying the risk for regular users was virtually nonexistent. But German officials say there’s no way to guarantee the safety of Internet activity for those who use Internet Explorer. Security experts agree, stating that the threat to IE users is even more real now that the instructions on how to exploit the browser’s vulnerabilities have been posted on the Internet.
