I can’t drive my Jetta in the winter without the heated seats 
The first 10 minutes of my commute can be bitter cold in a Diesel, when the temperature is below Zero.
the trouble is my current commute is 14 minutes.
LMAO yeah those tdi’s are a bitch to warm up… my wife has the new model 05 - 5cyl gas engine… warms up quite nice

Actually I prefer the leather seats to vinyl or velor seats. vinyl seats are too cold and harsh or way to hot in the summer, where as velor seats generate way too much static-electricity.
I had to search to find leather seats to upgrade Jenny after I bought her.
The poor heat in the winter is countered by the good fuel mileage and loads of torque . (oh my computer has been tweaked :D:open_mouth::D:cool: )
OMG static kills me man… not in the car but in general. Over the winter… everytime i touch metal… ZAP! sucks…
over here in nothern jersey there are a TON of tweaked VW’s… it’s quite ridiculous actually… I’m a mustang guy… a V8 with a blower and loud exaust get’s me everytime LOL but i’ll tell yah… some of the things the guys around me are doin to their Vdubs are sick.
the diesel does get good MPG’s - just more expensive now… I don’t really know why my wife didn’t get the TDI… i’ll have to find out haha - i do like them.

currently my only loss is to an SVT mustang, mainly because I wasn’t chipped or really modded yet. still want to get to the track and check again, I am at about a 11 sec Quarter (down from my stock 17.99) I am in the Uber sleeper.
a friend has a 88 golf that runs 10.5’s in the quarter, but it is a purpose built car for racing. Mine is a daily driver.
thats awesome man… really. 11 seconds is good about any car - it’s definately awesome for a vw. Can’t the diesels take propane shots? I know those engines aren’t real easy to blow… they hold up nice.
i had a 2000 mustang GT… got it to a 13.8 in the quarter with a broken control arm and a shot tranny (didn’t know at the time) - it wasn’t an 11 sec car but it was naturally aspirated with no internals done shrugs I had to sell it to buy my house but my next one will be a GT with a blown mach1 motor - can’t wait!

Yes VW TDI’s are very valuable now, I managed to get mine in October 2003, before they were worth the $5000+ market adjustments. I think mine is still worth as much or more than what I paid for it.

Diesel’s can take a lot, bigger turbos, more fuel, most run very lean stock
keys to Diesel, they can’t detonate, most internals are well overbuilt, and the head gasket will likely leak or blow before more major internal failure occurs. that is why a stock engine can put out 4-5 times more power reliably. overboost just tends to increase blow-by. propane, methanol injection, water injection, all to reduce EGT’s (the death of turbos and melter of internal parts) for heavily modded Diesels.
The main problem is getting the power to the ground, most modders chase the power to the ground replacing parts along the way, clutch, transmission, differential, drive shafts, axle bearings, spindles, hubs, then the cranks start giving in.
I Auto-x Race some, but I am no where near the Street Modded Subaru WRX’s abilities and speeds, I lack the All-wheel drive and Limited slip differentials

Back to the original subject… this is kinda old news … anything that heats the boys up too much is bad … esp. hot tubs … cuts way down onthe production of the little soldiers …
I have an analogy.
Imagine a gun. If the temperature gets too HOT, the gun will melt.
With a melted gun, you can’t ‘SHOOT’ .
I know it’s old news, but I had not seen the car seats causing this problem.
